It's a VU gauge -- like my Panasonic PV-4780! I have never seen that Sanyo before -- the most common ones I've seen were made by LG, and I've seen a few Funai ones as well. But that one seems to be a mystery as I don't know what subcontractor made the mechanism. It sounds like something I've never heard before.
I have this vcr it’s not made by funai or LG it’s a genuine Sanyo and it’s a beast lol the remote that comes with it has a screen on it for the time and it lights up .. I got it brand new sealed in box for 50 bucks off eBay
