      I know what you mean. I have been putting off splitting next years supply for awhile now. But the price of oil is a big motivator LOL That splitter may be coming sooner than later.

    I appreciate this review Joe! I was thinking about getting one for my dad as he’s looking to split some big logs on his property.

      You're welcome & thank you for visiting & taking the time to comment. I have a couple of mauls & find this one the best in most cases. I prefer a wooden handle, but adapted to this one quite easily If your Dad just prefers the feel of a wooden handle he may not care for this maul, but he should give it a try.

      I found it to be a good value for the money & comfortable ( or as comfortable as as possible splitting wood LOL) to use. I switch between what I use depending on the rounds I am splitting. But this Fiskars Maul can handle it all.

    Looks like a nice maul! Having a lifetime warranty it good.

    • @JOEZEP54
      @JOEZEP54  Před 2 lety

      Sure is. I switch between the splitting ax & this maul depending on the rounds, type of wood etc. I like the feel of a wooden handle but I find the benefit of using these when processing the wood for several hours is worth the trade off. Plus a lifetime warranty I just have to last as well LOL
      Thank you for stopping by.

    Can an old man use this axe, or is it too heavy? thanks

    • @JOEZEP54
      @JOEZEP54  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Ronan thank you for visiting. I would say yes, absolutely, but it depends. What do you consider an old man & what shape is he in. When answering your question I think of the country song "The man I use to be" LOL I do not like to put too much personal info out online but I am well passed SS retirement age & manage with it. Just not as well as a few years back. It is definitely easier to work with than a regular splitting maul & although it claims you can use it to hammer in wedges I still use the sludge hammer on the wedges. If you have a Walmart or Homedepot near you see if they have one and how it feels. I believe if you purchase it on Amazon there is not any return fee. Just check first.
      Be safe, Joe Z
