- It's been a while since I've had a chance to watch the broadcast, so I actually have seen what I'm uploading. Anyway, our match today is between teams with one loss, Bristol and Warwick, looking for chance to fight another day. You know my favourite and it looks like they're (somewhat) on better form today, although they should've known better on some questions (Somehow I've seen the Richard VIII fact at least 3 times on BBC in the last month). Still, a nail-biting finish despite of the low overall score. I blame that darn long music round (Better than opera, but 2 songs too much!). Original air date 20.2.2017

I'm very sorry for Bristol, they were a great team and I was rooting for them. They should have marched all the way to the final and won it. They were scuppered by a few unfortunate incorrect interruptions late in the game. My new favourites now are Emmanuel Cambridge.

Why do people NEED to comment on someone's appearance or personal lifestyle choices in an intellectual contest? What is the point? Warwick made a great recovery while Bristol made a couple of mistakes at the end that cost them the contest. Really exciting finish! I've never seen anything like this. It's not just that Bristol lost, but they lost by having their lead cut by a number of premature attempts to answer questions that cut their total from 130 to 110. If they had just sat on their hands for the last ten minutes they would have won. Very odd.
Most astounding comeback I've witnessed on University Challenge, assisted by the fact that Bristol were rather inconsistent and flaky big wins in some matches and easily beaten in other matches.

Bristol have no one to blame but themselves. They lost 20 points by buzzing prematurely. I was rooting for them, though, and I really do not like Warwick all that much. Moreover, I cannot imagine Warwick going any further. They have too many weaknesses. Anyway, thank you so much for the upload, Psi.

The hate directed to Bristol is almost entirely attributed to Clarke. What a win by Warwick! Hope the progress to the next round.

Also, I don't think (or I'd be very surprised if) Warwick go any further. Now that we're down to the business end of things, I think there are 3 better teams out there, based on the form shown so far.
Yes, I wasn't sure but this sealed it for me regarding Warwick's fate. They just aren't near as good as any of the other remaining teams.
Warwick did very well to come back from behind (130-30!), just like Emmanuel Cambridge has done in all their matches and they seem to have gone through. Meanwhile Paxman seemed to have a problem with Bristol, not giving them much time, and not allowing what was obviously meant to be Glucose. Fortunately it didn't change the result.

Viz the Dorothy L Sayers questions, as a lifelong fan and owner of all the books, I'm not sure I could've answered all of them anyhow...I think the students are pretty good...

Jeremy Paxman untypically even tempered in this one. I enjoy seeing how I do-trying to beat my best score of getting 22 right and four that they didnt. This time got 15 in this one and two that they didnt get. There is usually one question which they dont get which shocks me. This time it was the bird one. Not an ornithologist among them haha

I think Hutchings seems very nervous, he was having a lot more fun when they were winning. Not sure why Clarke comes across so dully though.
