    Jon, had you only mentioned it once I would have let it go but as far as temps go you need to get some cold weather training. Maybe visit the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center in Bridgeport, CA?
    This 77-year-old Marine fart was out this morning flying his UMX TT with a temp of -5F and a wind speed of 2mph. And that was for a 6min + flight!
    Just giving you a hard time Jon. I really do know where you're coming from. Besides being stationed in SC in the early 60s I served 8 months in Vietnam. I remember a few days here and there were the temps dropped down into the low 80s and yes, even at that temperature, it felt a little chilly. It is all relative. I'm certain that if some Inuit was reading this post he/she would be laughing at my -5F and telling me about their -45F with 20mph winds. 😊

      Hello! This is Eric. I also laugh inside when Jon mentions the weather during his intros. I grew up in Jersey and I know what a wind chill factor. In 45 degrees I still wore t-shirts and jeans. Jon has never seen snow in his life! So, anything below 70 degrees is freezing! 😂 I told him one day we will visit the East coast so he can see and feel what freezing really means!

    It's nice, but I didn't mt need to spend the extra for reverse esc's metal gear servo, and telemetry. I like my V1 as is.
    I am fine with bleeding off speed and using full flaps before landing.
    I'll just upgrade my servo to metal if it ever dies.

    • @JonsRC
      @JonsRC  Před 2 lety

      I think both the old and new versions stops just fine even without reverse thrust.

    I'll trade u a few days of 18 degrees + 20mph wind!

    Is this plane for beginners? Because its really cool and Dome people say its easy to fly with.

    • @JonsRC
      @JonsRC  Před 2 lety

      As far as jets go, this is “easier “ to fly than other jets. But, if you are still learning how to fly regular 4-channel planes, then I would not try to fly this. She is stable but she is also very fast and can get away from you very quick. This also requires experience with landing as you can’t just drop throttle and glide her down. She needs to be “flown” all the way to touchdown. If you are comfortable with other 4-channel planes already and want to get into jets, then this is a great option. But, this is NOT a beginner plane for somebody just starting out. Thanks!

    Hello, I have this plane but the turning radius on the ground (ie the throw of the front landing gear servo) is really bad. Especially when I am turning left, it's probably about a 20 ft turning radius. Is there a way to make it turn harder both to the left and right?

    Would you recommend this as a first jet

    • @JonsRC
      @JonsRC  Před 2 lety

      It depends on your flight experience. If you have 4+ channel experience flying prop sport planes or other medium sized warbirds and are comfortable with speed and agility, then yes. If your only 4+ channel experience are flying trainers like the Apprentice or the Cub then no. This A-10 64mm may be stable in the air but she can easily hit tripple digit speeds and get away from you real fast! Plus landing this beast is not the same as landing a trainer where you can just drop throttle and glide her down. This plane has to be "driven" all the way to touchdown! As you can see from my landing, she required the entire landing strip to fully stop!

      For Sport flying, I love the Extra 300! She is very stable on Safe Select but when you’re ready to try sport maneuvers, she delivers! For jets, I love the Viper. She is also very stable on Safe Select but she has that next level speed and agility.
