this video makes me so sad, this is my hometown, the house my grandparents bought in the 50s (which my grandpa was conned into selling in 2003 by my crazy aunt) is going for over $1 million. It’s insane they bought that house for $16k 😭😭😭

Girl, I feel you 110%... I want nothing more than to return to my hometown where I spent a little over half of my life, including my blissful childhood. It sucks so hard to know that that's nearly an impossible endeavor now... but, it's something worth working hard for, so that keeps me going for now at least lol.
The DMV area on the east coast is getting kinda bad too. Townhomes for $500k which was the cost of a large single family 20 years ago. The market is creeping up faster. I’m inspired to travel like Taylor but I worry about not getting in the game and then one day waking up and it’ll it’ll be like CA, where it’s hard to buy a decent house in a safe area under $800k unless it’s a fixer upper.
This is the best series. Not that I'm ever going to be able to move to any of these places lol it's just so interesting. You're the best Taylor! Thanks for taking us along on your adventures.
As someone from Ohio, hearing them say the 800k house was so big made my brain explode. That size home around my area would be maybe 100k. SoCal housing costs are wild.

It's insane in the PNW as well. I've been in western Washington for almost 15 years, and the cost of living and home prices still blows my mind! I grew up in NC, and the cost of living is just so different.
As a San Diego resident that moved here from the East Coast (MD outside of DC) it is crazy. This is where you have take into consideration what each person deems affordable. The home price in San Diego does not align with median incomes here.
I've been having an especially hard time lately with stress, death, and grief. I always appreciate your videos so, so much. They always make me feel better, if even for but a short amount of time. Thank you for your commitment to working and sharing yourself. ❤️

Just closed on a house in Mira Mesa after battling the market for a year. I never imagined having to shell out 1mil for our starter home 🙈 They call it the California Tax for a reason lol - can’t beat the weather, good food (hello burritos) and nature. I’m more than happy to pay the price to stay here, and I’m so fortunate to be able to.

The property taxes and HOA fees are what gets you out there. I left in '17 because I couldn't see retiring there because even if the home is paid off, the property taxes and HOA fees are prohibitively high, as are energy and water costs. Was a great 30 years, but I had to say goodbye for cooler weather and lower costs.

Born and raised (and still living) in San Diego. I could never afford to live in North County lol - North of the 52?!? I lived my first 22 years in Chula Vista, 1 year in Spring Valley, and the last 5 years in El Cajon (literally the cheapest place you can possible live in San Diego aside from Lakeside.) The cost of living has just pushed me further and further East. Rent goes up every year. Up $400 a month since 2017. But my wage has stayed roughly the same. I love my city, and I’ve made so many memories here. It makes me sad to think that one day I will be forced to leave because I can no longer afford to live here.

Yes, but...I didn't see any window coverings. Maybe that's OK in a living room, but I want privacy in bedrooms. I know it faced out on the water, but there are these things called binoculars and telescopes.

I loved the 2nd condo with the water views. The patio outside looked a little steep, but a great patio it would make.
I use to live in Oceanside many years ago and loved this area. I would recommend this area for all kinds of things to do, good food and great times when I lived there, Thanks for sharing it brought back many happy memories.

I live in Oceanside! It’s totally wild, only three or four years ago, these same O-side condos (2nd home) were in the low 400k range 😢
I LOVE North County! Living in Minnesota it’s my fantasy year ‘round perfect weather. my cousins bought a house in Oceanside 15 years ago which was a great investment because the area has really gotten nice. Luckily I get to visit often. Anyway, love these (and all) your videos…it’s so fun to see different homes in different cities and countries. I’m so curious to see where you set down roots…

My favorite is place in the world is del mar the heights area. I grew up there and everytime I go back it's still just as quite as I remember.

Hi Taylor, I live in Carlsbad, CA and love it. I have friends who live in the complex with the back bay views and they love it. You can walk to downtown Carlsbad in 5 mins.
My dad's family lived in the Chula Vista area so I spent many summers vacationing down there as a kid. In the late 70s and early 80s. I grew up in Riverside.
I feel like I equate space to quality of life 😂and I have a SMALL house now in NC (2100 sq ft for $240K)…. I just can’t imagine such little square footage- but I guess it’s harder moving from suburbs to CA/PNW or other major cities downsizing
I would LOVE to see this series continue in Washington DC. Not sure if DC is on your radar, but would love your perspective.
These prices combined with HOAs are out of control to share a wall, ceiling/floor with other people. No way I’d be in for this

I'm old enough to be your mom. Yet, in 1981 I purchased in a new build of attached homes with 2 car garages in SD. I was born & raised in La Jolla and wanted to be semi close to my mom. I LOVED THAT PLACE and sold it when I married and move much to my mom's displeasure she wanted me to rent. She was right......... It's above USD and the bay facing depending on the home. I had a peek bay view from the edge of the canyon and at night it was so beautiful with the smaller (USD) college lighted and looked like Italy in a way..... I think you are set on going North.... Yet, SHOULD TAKE A GANDER at University Canyon West... University Canyon East was the first build.... I prefer UCW.......... Close to everything.......Lovely attached homes and quiet. I guess I say this because it is a nice hidden gem. However, back then ppl didn't tend to move to Oceanside was very underdeveloped and sketchy ....... I almost moved to Carlsbad, but I worked at Sharp Memorial and was on call a lot so too far for me. Good luck!
I’ve never imagined real-estate in Diego being dirt-cheap but window-shopping’s still cool. The views really are insane.
BE careful with outside washer/dryer.... it's plenty damp by the coast (or near to) things coastal don't do well and rust and you are always trying to buy things to reduce the moisture due to rust and mold.....
So insane how expensive things are! I live in a small town and my house is huge and we paid 445 which I thought was alot. Lol we have an acre of land and 6 bedrooms 3 bathrooms. But where I live we don't even have a target so I guess it's all about location!

Totally Carlsbad with the view. I'm in Rancho Cucamonga grew up in San Gabriel Valley but my cousin grew up in Carlsbad and I used to go there every summer... it's wonderful. I just went to a wedding in Oceanside 2 wks ago and I would take the Carlsbad or the 525k in Oceanside in a heartbeat!

We (og ca residents) think Edison should have kept it going but they couldn’t ride out the fight from the dems and environmentalists….. You have to get the energy from somewhere, gotta plug the cars in! It’s ironic that our dem gov. Newsom is NOW figuring that out and was discussing reopening Diablo Canyon…..In any case , I love SC because it still has that quaint small beach city vibe! I literally grew up at the pier!
