I wish if Miyazaki could adapt Ramayana and Mahabharata like Yugo Sako did! it would be pretty awesome. It can be as brutal as Princess Mononoke and at the same time can be as child friendly as My Neighbor Totoro.

Miyazaki and Suzuki himself said in the The Boy and The Heron documentary "2,399 days with ghibli and miyazaki" that Takahata (also called as Paku-san) was a guiding figure and mentor for Miyazaki.
Miyazaki was so obsessed with him and his work that at one point he even tried to emulate his handwriting.
Both share a deep bond and help and gave advice to each other, as Miyazaki says multiple times in this "I wish I could speak Takahata".

Many people didn't understand
The movie wasn't about, why or what , it doesn't give reasons to everything, it was just a good metaphor that Miyazaki showed , He did Put his thoughts, The narrative was disjointed but it didn't have to be all connected or logical it taught us everything everywhere , whether it was mahito's growth or accepting his new mother and coming out of his trauma , And much more that was beyond my understandings too , at the end just think of it as a journey.

I watched movie today and it was liek a beautiful dream and I will say he mentioned that how the tower jave come and how his mother was there for 1year and came back magically you missed it 😅 that point but it seriously ask a question how do you want to see your life and we always have choice.

If I were to give my honest opinion about this movie, this movie felt like most ghibliest studio ghibli movie. This movie had every element of a ghibli movie from soothing music to that signature food scene, although the film felt disjointed at some points but there many scenes with surreal visuals, sounds and comedic elements which kept me hooked throughout the movie. In short I don't know about others but for me it was a good movie in a Ghibli style.
It has all the hard work of Ghibli movies but none of its heart
Being an ardent fan of Ghibli Studio, it was a bummer to see that Miyazaki's last work is the most disappointing one. Despite this, we should continue to support anime screenings in Indian theatres to allow future anime movie screenings.
Takahata wasn't Miyazaki's mentor, what? They were contemporaries.The old man was supposed to be miyazaki himself and mahito could've been his grandson for whom the film is made.

Takahata is supposed to be the Grand uncle here, he isn't Miyazaki's mentor but this was the professional relationship between Takahata and Miyazaki, and also Mahito is Miyazaki here, Mahito loses his mother in a war and Miyazaki also lost his mother, it was to create a parallel between them, the Heron is Toshio Suzuki the producer of studio Ghibli films and also a good friend of Miyazaki

i want to say something to all the new anime fans as i watched the starting of the video i realized i am a witness of how anime grew and I really wanna say that how passionate anime tm was about anime than any other ani tuber out there. I think they were the ones who worked their shit out to make anime popular in India i am watching their channel since 2019 and they have the best content out there and i am not very happy with the growth this channel got their content, their passion for any anime, I swear I would not have loved anime if I had not watched their videos

I just watched the movie.I went with a very clear mindset and didn't expect anything spectacle.......... though it was lagging.. specially in 2nd half.....first half was ok as story build up was there.....of course there is fantasy.... fantastic visuals and music just like other Miyazaki films...and it's really lucky to be able to experience a Ghibli film in a big screen.
And for the story.......I think it was Mahito's destiny to be guided by the Heron and to be there in that world....and the loop was completed!
I just watched this movie today in theatre it was a nice experience and my feelings after watching this movie is exactly how you described you didn’t miss a single point… thanks for this review…

I have watched both in theatres. Majority of people like Suzume . Nowadays, this kind animation and story telling is rare. There is a link between Spirited Away and The Boy and the Heron ( Oscars) .
