- This is a play-through using Magneto in the Arcade version of X-Men: Children Of The Atom. Read on below for more information...
Magneto is the final boss. He is an unplayable character in this version of the game.
===== About Magneto =====
A famous and extremely powerful Marvel super-villain. Basically the 'my-species-should-rule-the-world' type villain.
This guy is very overpowered... he is fast, inflicts high energy depletion and has massive priority in most of his moves. His Force Field makes him completely invincible for a temporary time; his Magnetic Shockwave does HUGE depletion; and his EM Pulse is just simply unfair. Capcom simply had no choice but to discard the EM Pulse in his future appearances as a normal playable character. ; )
===== Additional Information =====
---- Magneto has two special moves which only work fully when he is on his boss background, called the Avalon. In this background, it is made up of 4 sections. Magneto can travel to each of these sections by performing his Electric Field. Each time he performs this move, he travels to a different section, before looping back to the first once you reach the 4th section. For his Magnetic Tempest move to work fully, he must be on the 3rd section of the stage, which is the area where the blue spaceship is parked. From here, he can use the Magnetic Tempest move to attract the shards of material, and then use (D,DF,F + [MK]) to send the shards to the opponent.
---- When playing as him in single-player mode, you will not get to fight Magneto on the final stage.
---- When you complete the game with Magneto, it will end up on a screen with him, another Magneto and some X-Men soldiers standing, with the player Magneto in a flawed colour palette (looks like Cyclops' colours). The game will be stuck on this screen and will not progress.
---- His super meter builds itself automatically even when he is idle.
---- In COTA, his EM Disruptor and Magnetic Wave are normal basic moves.
---- Despite being an unplayable character, he can appear on the Continue screen perfectly.

This was Capcom's first ever attempt at making the Marvel franchise as a 2D fighting game, and they passed with flying colours. The style, graphics and animation still holds up even to this day. Make no mistake, this is some of Capcom's finest work. - Hry

Magneto has been, at least since the 90s moving forward, more of a complex character. While in the first issue of X-Men he was cartoonishly evil, he's been more fleshed out into a neutral character who teeters between good and evil. At one point even, he actually led the X-men in Xavier's absence and tried hard to follow in his footsteps, not just because he wants mutants to prosper, but because of his respect for him. Despite being on opposite sides of the war, Eric and Xavier have always respected each other

In my opinion. Magnitos Magnetic Showckwave, Juggys HEADCRUSH and Sentinels SPECIAL MOVE are by far the 3 moves that take the most life bar outta their opponents. But daim JUGGYS EARTHQUAKE IS RIGHT UP THERE.
Iceman's arctic attack is up there as well

My favorite magneto combo is hyper grab into magnetic shockwave depending in the difficulty the computer always falls for it.
What a missed opportunity for capcom to give this game a remaster because yk X-Men 97 came out.
That Sentinel battle got close their for awhile, but it got wrecked in the end, was that machine still under warranty?

They need to make a TAS play through
He moves way faster then in MSH. Also moves do more damage. He also has some moves that were not in MSH. But his magnetic shock wave and magnetic tempest seem weak compared to MSH.
They are not going to make OP Magneto in COTA the same type in every other Capcom fighting game.
That’s just not reasonable.
I played this hacked version of the game, and when I was about to fight the magneto boss, the little airship thing on the map when you choose a character was stuck there and the select character music was still playing, I tried to recreate the glitch but I cant, when I try to beat the game with magneto again it takes me to sentiel and when I beat him I get akumas ending.
For me, I got the "Now Making X-Men Coming Soon" screen.
I guess he doesn't have an ending programmed for him.
Which version allows you to play as him?
Edit: l have the roms, but need the codes, if you have them...

Sorry, I got mixed up with Marvel Super Heroes, which, in free play mode (japan version only) let’s you play as Dr. Doom and Thanos. You cannot play as the Boss characters in the original arcade version but can in the PS1 and Sega Saturn ports
