    11:25 Buy the old model's (LC80, Katana, Patriot) clear glass while you can. I suspect however, that they are going to keep the EazyRC Patriot (with full interior and fender wells) and give it the EazyRC Thunderstorm treatment which is an impressive upgrade (new color choices, new waterproof ESC, lighting controls, etc).

    Where can I find metal gears for both of my diffs? I keep stripping them out

    • @TheShopMiniRC
      @TheShopMiniRC  Před 7 měsíci +2

      there are some stores on ali express that have the metal diff gears but you might need to do some shimming to make them run smooth. You can also get the Smasher / FMT24 diffs that are metal. They are open diffs (so not good for crawling, more for high speed) but if you glue/lock them up, they work just like the normal spools... just in metal.
      You can us shoe goo or e6000 glue to lock up all the spider gears and basically make it back into a solid axle. This should help your stripping issues.

    • @TheShopMiniRC
      @TheShopMiniRC  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Likely a bad battery. Usually when everything but the motor works, it’s the esc’s low voltage cut off preventing the motor from getting power. This means the battery is low. If you use the crappy usb charger, it won’t show you the actual voltage of the battery. Ask a hobby store or friend who can check the battery for you.

    I've recently been thinking about getting back into the RC crawler world, but on a smaller scale (have a hpi venture that's been hibernating for 4 years) & originally I wanted to go 1/24. I was heavily leaning towards the new SCX24 Power Wagon and then I saw this guy on Amain's site. If you had to choose between the two which would you go with?
    Also, great job on the videos! Straight a to the point, great info for beginners, and no flashy obnoxiousness trying to get views.

    • @TheShopMiniRC
      @TheShopMiniRC  Před 5 měsíci +1

      man.. sooo its hard say. Its really personal pref.
      The FCX18 is slightly bigger than the SCX Power Wagon. The FCX has the 2 speed, portals and ring/pinion diff. The scx is straight axles, 1 speed and worm gear. The SCX has a LOT more aftermarket support (but the fcx support is growing a ton, you could build an fcx from all aftermarket parts, so there are plenty)
      I donno my dude.. which one do you like the looks of better? lol

I think that is the best remote for this size, you'd think it would have been best cost effective to just stick with one that works all around. Glad that's the one.

    • @TheShopMiniRC

      Brushed motors are fine with water as long as they get dried out. (Just run them for a bit once done with the water) bearings will rust if not greased/oiled. The esc and servo likely should be conformal coated.

    How do I find a servo upgrade for this model

    • @TheShopMiniRC
      @TheShopMiniRC  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Pretty much any of the high torque aftermarket servos can work, you just need an adapter or need to re wire the plug for the smaller rx plugs.
      There is also the rampcrab servos that already have the plug.

    Hi there, my fcx18 would not hold itself and roll down at the steep ground when in 2nd gear even at 100% drag brake. Is this normal for the rc? (1st gear works fine)

    • @TheShopMiniRC
      @TheShopMiniRC  Před 8 měsíci +2

      Yeah. The high speed gear ratio is so high that the drag brake isn’t enough to stop it.

    Hello i have been watching your videos for a while now and i was just wondering if you could make a video where you can put a winch on it i have got my fms lc80 and i want to put a winch on it but i havent seen enyone do it and im afraid it wont work and it would be a waist of my money. Thank you if you can

    • @TheShopMiniRC
      @TheShopMiniRC  Před 3 měsíci +2

      its 100% doable. You just need to be able to plug in the servo into your channel three. You will likely need to switch your shift servo to channel 4 so that you can use channel 3 as your winch. Channel 4 is binary, on/off, left/right. So this is good for shifting low gear and high gear. The winch needs a 3 position switch, off, left and right. There are also 2 options for winches. One is a scale style winch that looks realistic and would need to be mounted on the bumper or outside of the truck. These winches are not super strong but they look good! The second type of winch is more just for a strong winch. You usually mount this on the inside somewhere and this type of winch is very strong. You just run the winch line out the front of the truck with a hook but the actual winch servo is inside the truck (like the shift servo)
      Depending on how you do this will very much change how you mount the winch / servo.

    38:50 Seen a lot of stripped/skipping FMS plastic gears lately and I have to surmise they turned the abuse up to 11/10 to get it that way. Perhaps they put the truck up against a wall, on a carpeted floor (or whatever provides maximum traction) and squeezed full speed on the transmitter until the gearbox or axles went Brrrrtttt. Then they cry "this FMS is garbage!".😭 We have some really room-temperature IQ sorts who run these trucks into the ground within 24 hours of buying one. Or they give it to their toddler to play with and get similar results.

    The FCX24 and FCX18 platforms are not separate scale entities in reality, those names are just FMS marketing spiel. Their first "1/24" FCX24 Power Wagon wasn't, the body/cab was 1/18 scale. It's misleading marketing to siphon sales away from Traxxas or Axial SCX24 OR they just don't understand scale (highly highly doubtful). They're capitalizing on both 1/24 and 1/18 fan bases but they have yet to create a true 1/24 because that would mean scaling down their frames and running gear and that costs money. Even the RC4WD 1/24 Trail Finder 2 is something like 1/20. Not a true 1/24 scale.
    10:10 They used to use a blow molded Lexan bubble body with low detail but looks like T Truck is also using an injection molded ABS body, but I will say it still looks toylike compare to FMS. T Truck and FMS both are literally just molded plastic lol. I'm just making fun of your word choices lol. 😉

    Shitty plastic parts that will break on you pretty much immediately: both differential drive gears, both driveshafts, transmission first gear. Figure in the cost of metal parts and then you have the actual price of this truck. I bought 2 and the exact same problems occured on both. One steering servo also died in the first 2 battery charges. Criminal
