- Jo was 43 when she came down with a headache and sickness. She didn't think anything of it, despite recognising her symptoms as those of meningitis. Jo ended up in hospital for four months fighting for her life. She lost her toes, the digits on her right hand and suffered a partial amputation to her left hand. Meningitis Now first met Jo in hospital and provided her with support and counselling and a year later, Jo attended her first Rebuilding Futures Day.
Jo will be attending our upcoming Rebuilding Futures Day on March 12th 2018 as a speaker, telling her story to those who have been there.

I suffered from meningitis in 2009 when I was born.
I suffered from brain damage and to this day I still struggle with memory loss. I am very lucky as i survived, but I could of died.
I can’t imagine life without the suffering from meningitis...
At least I still have my limbs.

I survived meningitis in 2018. I was 13 years old. I hope everyone who is to get it in the future recovers fully and does not have life term effects.

@@SirGuy It can be passed through respiratory system by someone who is infected coughing or sneezing.

Rashes are usually the end signs or it may not appear at all. You shouldn’t wait till rashes because it can be too late or that’s at least what I heard. Stay safe 🙂
