From Gaijin's perspective, it has something to do with game balancing purposes. Because top tier Russian planes had very few ammo count such as SU27 has only 150 rounds, so Gaijin felt that MIG-29 and SU-27 should have the best missiles to balance out the lack of gun ammunition.

I think the AIM-7P would make this plane feel like it should. also I think the Aardvark has the most rounds barring the A10, it has 1900 rounds or so
I also heard someone say the Aim7MH, or at least I think that was it, apparently it’s just an Aim7M with datalink
@batlax18 from what I've seen the AIM-7MH just improves the lofting capabilities of the missile, which wouldn't help much in game since most encounters are medium to short range. the AIM-7P would be a more noticeable improvement since missiles would lose lock much less often

Aim-7P has no purpsoe in WT. It uses datalink. No datalink in WT. Not even AWACS. So no, Aim-7P would have literally no difference. The MH either as it just improves minor things from the M that have no effect in WT.
Historically, the main reason why the F-15 dominated because it was the only plane that could do BVR fighting effectively in the late Cold War. The Mig-29 and Su-27 have outstanding flight performance, but the R27 family of missiles is extremely unreliable so they couldn't challenge F-15's in a natural fight.
For obvious reasons, War Thunder isn't trying to recreate reality so the F-15 is just average in the game. The irony is that top tier is so chaotic that no fighter is actually able to dominate because the slight advantages they have is overcome by the chaos.

I mean not really, the F15 and all American aircraft dominate because they never faced an actual decent air force. it's not particularly hard to dominate when your opponent is a shitty 60 year Soviet export plane crewed by an inexperienced and poorly trained pilot who flies for a numerically inferior Iraqi air force that uses regressive and literal tribal leadership and has the inability to form air packages, carry out SEAD or have an AWACS. Wait until it faces the VVS or PLAAF in a fully mobilized war.
Also you need to realize that the US is actual quite behind in Fox 3 missile tech, UK and France have the best - The Meteor and the Russians have the R77 and R37 which include new and pioneering technologies such as hypersonic speed, they also have next to no available data on their performance so don't try bullshit anyone by saying they are "unreliable". Meanwhile the US still uses 30 year old missiles with no changes.
American strength is in its Network warfare and how efficient and fast it is at coordinating great numbers of aircraft. This matters more than than anything. The exact same thing as how the British won the battle of britain against an enemy that started with superior planes, superior numbers and superior experience. It's also why Russia and China are developing massive missiles like the R-37 and PL-15 to target American tanker, Surveillance and AWACS aircraft. To destroy the US's Network.

frankly the eagle excels at the awacs/datalink/amraam combination you were talking about due to it being one of the if not the most kinematically potent platform for them, along with the capability to carry more.
Don’t forget the F-15 locking onto invisible things in mid air when the enemy’s aren’t even there and the Aim-7M whith F-15 being slow as hell and easy to notch

@@tunnis9690 Oh, you are right. Still, I'd argue a Su-27 is a Su-27, because this is not only the Ru army designation but also the factory denomination. Unlike US militar equipment, I.E. F-15, M1, M16, russian planes are not "renamed" to enter service. A AR-15 in use in another country would still be a AR-15 imho, even if the local armed forces didn't call it M-16 :)
@@Tentaclumm aktually 🤓 china reproduced their own version of the “su-27” they were not buying it from russia but self producing it so yes J-11 is the correct name and SU-27 is incorrect.
So once again the US gets the worst version of the aircraft it produced while every other nation that got export versions gets the upgraded package.

Not like i have an option of what (top) jet to get, since my highest B.R. US jet is the F-4E and that was the line i was focusing on, and their bombers and attackers (still waiting for the B-52, B-58, B-49 - maybe - or some prototypes and older bombers), and just reached the 1st F-8 in the next tree, and left the 1st tree at the P-38L.

It's just too late too be of any use. It should have turned up instead of the F-16C. As it is I said when it first showed up I'll fly the F-16C instead. Until the F-15 gets HMCS or we got one that has it, there is literally no point in flying it with the way Top Tier has gone. Everyone literally just hugging the deck makes the F-15's entire purpose trashed. It's meant to sling Fox-1 at higher altitudes. Can't do that when everyone is trying to eat trees.

Personally it’s mid, I’d rather use the F-14B just because it has pretty much the same kit with more countermeasures and better low speed manoeuvrability
Also has more CAS potential than the eagle. Hell the F-16C has more CAS than the F-15A
It is true it is kind of mid, but keep in mind that the engines are on crack, has aim9m and I feel they turn quite a bit better than f14b overall, but yes it's not a Cas plane, and although you could basically sprinkle the map with flares in f14b, 240 flares is quite enough

As good as the f15 is supposed to be, I've been left with a sour taste in my mouth. I expected the plane to be far, far better fully spaded than it currently is and tbh, in its current state, imo it's rather trash and there's no reason to play it over the f16c.. sad, cause the plane is a beauty and it could be so, so, so much more

The soviets already had a flanker by 1977 called the T-10. Whilst technically a different aircraft from the Su-27, biggest difference aeronautically speaking a lack of IRST and a slightly different vertical and horizontal stabilizer layout, it is still a flanker.
This point is nullified however when you consider that the F-15A in war thunder is a semi-MSIP (given the flares) one and that the current Su-27 is an Su-27S. Both the Su-27S and F-15A MSIP were introduced in 1985.
But hey i suppose that the US air tree is suffering even with the objectively best aircraft. Clearly there is an example of Russian bias even when the Su-27 is only pulling 24 degrees max whilst the real S can pull 30 degrees instantaneous and 24 degrees sustained.

For the record, the Su-27 is performing in line with it's datasheets in Sim and RB. I'm not surprised the RB performance feels 'weird' though, because those numbers are achieved at specific airspeeds. When using the keyboard to turn you're hitting maximum deflection and hitting maximum G, so you'll hit that instantaneous turn rate for well, an instant, and burn straight through it as you keep pulling. the optimal sustained rateis achieved at an optimal G, which is in turn achieved at a airspeed. Mashing the elevator key (i.e. pulling the stick into your gut) is exceeding that optimal G every time, burning off all your airspeed, and then making you come around at below the optimal sustained rate. Your radius may be smaller, but it took you longer to complete that circle. RB is just a massive 1-circle fest so everyone thinks their hot shit if they can go head-empty and make the smallest circle possible with no thoughts.
In Defyn's Su-27 video he hit a maximum of 29.3 deg/s when he hit the right airspeed. Then, because he kept turning as hard as possible, the aircraft bled airspeed and dropped through 24 deg/s to about 17 (which is only about 2 deg/s slower than the F-16A block 10). With mouse+keyboard combined with WT's 1.5x G-loading you're pulling so many Gs in RB so easily you physically cannot stay at the right airspeed long enough to rate at the your best, well, rate. The same instructor that keeps you from getting into an unrecoverable stall in the MiG-21 keeps you from pulling AoA at low speed that would put you into a stall in the Su-27-- low speed authority be damned. But instead of doing a smidge of research and realizing that the same mechanics that hold your hand instructor are also responsible for the plane not feeling 'right', you want to blame it on Gaijin favoring another nation 👌👌

Most of the post WW2 NATO countries received massive Marshal Plan funding to rebuild their economies whilst the Soviet Union did it themselves whilst also helping a lot of the Eastern Block countries, rebuilding Warsaw practically for free after Germans leveled it. gripen is pretty overpowered it besides no good radar missiles it can 1v1 anything and has infinite countermeasures which makes it unkillable + its energy retention
