You are so welcome!
Thank you Cheryl.❤
You are so welcome
Love your work and your video.
For the newbies, I need to clarify that the technique "Sgraffito" has nothing to do with script. It's when you scrape/scratch away a top layer to reveal the color underneath. Think of kindergarten when we covered the paper with crayons, then covered in black and scratched a picture into the black to reveal the colors.
I never knew that about the Sgriffito. I’m really glad you taught me that I was going by what some other artists were telling me so it’s so nice to know that I really appreciate the information.
Enjoyed this immensely 👏tfs your talents❤️
Thanks so much 😊 I appreciate your comment so much.
I too have just found you. The words abstract and messy used in the same sentence are irresistible!
thank you for watching and taking the time to leave a kind comment!!!
Love how you made the collage papers and the way you incorporated them into the paintings. They're beautiful!
Thank you Peggy!!! Hope you are doing ok
Love watching you paint. I don’t do many abstracts, learning from everyone I can.
Thank you Mary!!! I appreciate your visiting me!!!
Just found you and am so inspired by your collage process!!! 🦋🦋🦋 ps: Yes, the flower piece was WOW!

Beautiful Art Pieces ❤
Thank you so much 😀 thank you for commenting. It means a lot to me.
Loving Yr videos great ideas and clear instructions about how to have a go ourselves 👍
Thanks 👍 I so hope you do try some!!! Thank you for watching
I really enjoyed your process. It reminds me how much fun is had by creating a unique piece.
It appears it is on time stamp 4:46 through 7:24. Since this is a longer video, 1 hour and 48 mins, I hope there is enough content for you to see what is happening. All I can think is CZcams demonetized some of my videos due to copyright music even thought I use a paid service and when they silenced the music, the picture got silenced too. Please forgive me.
A fantastic video. Thank you
Thank you so much
Really love this video and I found it so helpful
Thank you!!! It was a long one and so happy it was helpful to you
Thank you Cheryl. Being a mixed media artist, I am always looking to find sturdy papers that can hold layers without buckling etc. , so this is why I asked about a good paper.
You are so welcome! if my buckle, I put books on them to flatten and they always flatten!!! Thank you for watching
Hi new subscriber here, so happy I found your chanel
Welcome!! THANK YOU so much for watching and leaving a comment, it means to much to me!!!!
Found your channel by accident and what a happy accident that was! I'm learning about collage and how to incorporate the "papers" into my art. Your work is gorgeous and I appreciated hearing your thoughts about the process while seeing you actively demonstrate and think out loud! The piano music in this video (it's my first on your channel) became distracting for me and I found myself trying to turn the piano volume off or down so I could focus on your voice and your art. You have inspired me to try some of the techniques and mediums you demonstrated. Just a wonderful video and I will definitely look at others. Thank you!
I think I have learned about how to either NOT do music or have it even lower than I think!!!! Sorry about that. Thank you for visiting my channel and commenting, it means a lot to me. Have a GREAT weekend Judy.
Thanks for. The. Video
thank YOU for watching. I appreciate your support

Hi Miss Cheryl,
I do not comment often but say that this is the best instructional that fits what I like. I so much enjoyed this work and process of your art. As well as love these particular pieces made here, but have to admit that I would have stopped the process several times throughout .
Thanks so much
jack
Thank you jack for your kind words!!! Your taking the time to comment means a lot to me!!!
Amazing artx

So interesting.
thank you for watching and taking the time to comment, I appreciate it so much
Cheryl, so glad I found your channel.
👌👌😍😍😍👌👌
thank you
Have you ever tried wet strength tissue paper? It is amazing to use for collage as so translucent when added to your art. I have just discovered you so enjoying your art videos.❤
I have not used wet strength tissue paper!! I did not know it was a thing!!! There is so much out there isn't there? THANK YOU for sharing and watching my video..... I appreciate it so much
Thank you Cheryl for your sharing your ideas. Is the regular size paper you use Strathmore water color paper or something else?
Yes, it is! I use Strathmore a lot. I am not a true watercolorist as many that do watercolor will be a bit more particular about their paper. I am adding a link to where I have a link to all the papers I tend to migrate to. www.amazon.com/shop/influencer-86910b03/list/392DWM8N9HSRU?ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_ud_aipsflist_aipsfinfluencer-86910b03_44K0S1CMR62T7WZ0JX66 AND recently I tried (it is also here on this link) a product from ArtBeek that I love. I hope this link helps, you can order from my store or any local store!!
Amazing❤❤❤. Will parchment paper work? I'm sort of a mixed media artist but my passion is in junk journal making. Especially the tall skinny ones at the moment and I do make collage papers but use any thing and everything as long as I can glue it down hahahaha 😊😊😊.
Parchment paper has a silicone coating but will glue down with a Mod Podge. There might be other things out there. I do not use parchment in my collage but prefer a non wax deli.... BUT, I know other artists that do!!!! I'd try it!!!! I hope this helps..... I collage, but I am sure not to the level that YOU DO!!!!
The background music in this video is very soothing. I am wondering what it is. I didn't see it listed, but I am not used to looking for it, so it may be here and I missed it.
thank you!! I use Epidemic Sound for my music. It is a paid subscription. I do not note what songs I pick as I use so many and all are covered under the copyright of their agreement. But I believe it is "I Believe" by Francis Wells
@@CherylWilsonArt Thank you for your response. I do understand about copyright. :) I don't know what I am talking about in what I am next saying, but along the way, someone had said that youtube had some free music folks could use for videos and I didn't know if it was some of that or not. I just found you recently. I've painted a long time, but am playing in collage now, so I'm consuming lots of videos. I didn't realize so many people were into it. I think that is how it is any time you start something new, you find there is a whole new world around it you never knew existed. Thanks again for your response.
I used to use the free music, but after about a month, my videos were hit with a copyright issue and therefore you might hear in some of my earlier videos blank moments!!!! Collage and Mixed media is huge. Just a note.... if you ever want to show your work ..... there are times the rules ask that a certain percentage of your collage is your work, say 90% or something like that. So, the more you can make yourself, the more unique and if you show your work, the more acceptable into the show it might be!!!
@@CherylWilsonArt That's interesting. I guess I was under the impression that if youtube indicated it was free to use, then it meant the copyright issue was pre-resolved, but I do admit, like above, that was just my impression and I certainly don't know anything for sure about it. Obviously not free ! Thank you for the advice about showing. I am just beginning, but the way I first began, was to make lots of collage papers myself. Since I had been painting a long time, I already had a ton of paint and some assorted papers. I really love making the papers, so right now, any painted paper I use is 100% mine. I've since purchased more papers like the deli, mulberry and tea papers. it has been fun learning about the different papers and how they react to being painted and glued. I also have enough stencils now for at least 3 people ! I look forward to continuing to learn.
I do not use CZcams's music, so you might be ok..... you would think!!!! I used free music suggested by google!~
Thank you, New subscriber. Is deli paper wax paper?😊
Basically, yes!!! There is also Unwaxed deli paper that I love more than the waxed!!! Welcome and thank you so much for subscribing patty
I just found u as well, and did not know what to do with the ink I have. Is your ink watercolor ?
My inks are acrylic inks!!! I love to layer my paints, with more liquid all the way to thinker paints for a great texture look. Thank you for joining me and I appreciate the comment so much
Could you not squish the paper for texture before laying. No scissors in use?
What about straight edges. Avoiding?
Mixed Media artists are open to many options. Options I have not even explored. So, yes, you can squish before layering. Thank you for watching.
deli paper is parchment paper?
From my experience, parchment paper is a little bit too, has too much resistance to it. It has like a shiny side, and it has a non-shiny side the effect all the time so I use parchment paper, and I do drippings on it, and I can pull the drippings of the paint once they dry off deli paper is a lot less like thicker and it’s it’s wax. Deli paper is a thinner and so there is a little bit of a difference enough of a difference that I would not use parchment paper to use in my art. However, there’s an unwaxed deli paper that is incredible, but it’s kinda hard to find if you can find a Unwaxed deli paper that is really a lot of fun to use in your art. I hope this answers your question the fact that deli paper and parchment paper, there is a difference, and it’s more in the weight, and therefore how I would use it in my art would be the deli paper is what I would use.
How do you decide how to price your artwork?
This answer is multi layered and in my opinion depends on several factors, how many years have you been painting your current style of art?
@@CherylWilsonArt i'm a newbie and have no idea, but i am taking lots of ideas from you. As a new person how do you decide?
@@michellespeight5972 I’m on travel, so am delayed in responding!! I can tell you that when I started selling my paintings, I sold them for like if it was a 20 x 20 I would take 20×20 which would be 400 and divided by two which would be $200. In other words, the length times width divided by two I currently do mine length times width times 2.5, but I started out better lower price point until I felt comfortable raising the price. I hope that makes sense. I do not get into a lot of business details on CZcams. However, I do on a one on one mentoring program ship because it is a lot more involved than just a simple calculation, but the simple calculation might help you and be all that you need at this point.
@@CherylWilsonArt thank you so much this is really helpful. Enjoy your travels!
Loved watching your process. Had to turn off the sound. The music was causing confusion, too many different noises. Otherwise a great video.
Noted! thank you for watching. I have since tried to lower the music, it is all a learning process, doing this youtube thing. Take care.
you may have wrinkled paper but none on your baby face for 66.Great going.
Ill ask the obvious about overall health with glues and mediums. Guess its fine. you ain't gonna stop
either way.
thank you. Again, thank you for watching my videos and taking the time to leave a comment.
If you have to have music please turn it lower than your voice, thanks.
this was done a year ago, hopefully i have gotten better about the sound.
