The WORST Lawn to OVERSEED | Seeding a Steep Hill | Rocky Soil, Erosion, Tree Roots |

- My backyard is the worst lawn to overseed or renovate. It's a steep hill with rocky soil, tons of tree roots, and on top of that I deal with quite a bit of soil erosion.

The hill would be intimidating if the owner wasn’t an absolute beast!! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
😂Thanks, Jordan. I tried to recruit help for this project. It's was exhausting.
Seeing new grass is always so exciting. And the view from your back yard at the end there is beautiful!
Thank you, Jimbo!!
Holy hard work, ooking great! I was down around there the other day, almost dropped in but time fell short.
Thanks, Koven! Feel free to stop by any time!
I just got hydro seeding done last week. Please suggest the best fertilizer with NPK to put after 4 to 6 weeks. I was told the hydro seeding already had starter fertilizer. I live in Minnesota. Appreciate your help.
Ben, Lots of hard work right there my friend! "The BEAST" Praying for light rains for you and NO Heavy Downpours! Great Vid and Editing as always! Chad Upstate NY
Thank you, Chad. No heavy rains so far, which at this point I think I may be in the clear as a lot of the seed has begun to germinate. We actually haven't been getting much rain at all so we could actually use some. Thank you for your support!
Great job, sir. I have a steep hill in my backyard too. So planning some renovation in the fall.
Thank you and good luck with your renovation!
Fantastic video! Breaking up bare areas with that weasel is no joke. I just finished doing that the other day in a few areas that are compacted red clay, and I was wiped out! I also need to move a downspout as it washed away a lot of my seed last year. Hardworking and it appears the results are well deserved.
Thank you! Good luck with all of your lawn work this fall!
Awesome!
Thank you!
I have the same problem in my garden. Level.it with compost and wood chips. A lot cheaper and it will hold a whole lot of water to prevent erosion and overspending.
Your grade looks like areas of my lawn. Have not done the blanket yet, its been so dry with no rain in the forecast.
Lots of luck and please post updates.
Will do. I hope you all get rain soon! Thank you for the support!
Mrs Lawn Guardian: Are you playing football again today?
The Lawn Guardian: Nope, just doing yardwork on the beast!
This back yard is such a challenge. Definitely pushes you to the limit unlike an easy flat lawn that anyone can do easy lol. That shultz seed isn’t too bad I think it’s rebranded and repackaged barenbrug if I remember correctly, at least some of their blends.
It's definitely not a walk in the park back there. That's interesting to hear about that seed brand. I had not heard that before. Thank you for watching and the support!
If I was you I would just move lol 😂 great work
Easier said than done for my family at the moment. Thank you for the support!
Nice job with that drain, that work is exhausting!
Thanks! It was easily the worst part of this project. Thank you for watching and the support!
Tackifier kept the seed from washing away when we had 7in of rain in a week ;)
Nice! I've heard good things about it and watched your videos on it as well. I wouldn't mind using it in the future if needed but wanted to try these blankets first. Thanks for the support, Tim!
Did you rely solely on rain or did you water your lawn?
I manually water this lawn.
That yard is bad for a lot of things man. But if you got some snow it would be a dope af sledding hill!
Since I have a fence it's not the best to sled but I went down my neighbors backyard this past winter. It was a lot of fun! Thank you for the support, Jason!
@@TheLawnGuardian You say fence. I think if just something to jump over!! 🤣😂
@@YardGuy I'd be jumping into trees. 😂
@@TheLawnGuardian might make for a good video..... 😉
"Two putt" perennial poa reptans for low cut and full shade, it is creeping bluegrass might be useful to you.
Not Kentucky blue grass.
Thank you!
Now that’s a job!
Thank you!
First
I think there's a rye grass that's known for having deep roots to stop erosion
Yeah. There's a few different grass types I've been doing additional research on. Thank you for your support and for the suggestion!
If money wasn’t a factor what seed would u get
A high end shade mix. Even if money wasn't a factor, I'm not sure it'd be worth putting high quality seed on a slope like this.

Is the mustache really gone or is this the CZcams time conundrum?
It's all gone.
@@TheLawnGuardian but..... but..... I thought you all were going to be rocking staches when Ben came down.
@@DRK_BBQ Hmm. I'm not sure. I can't take myself seriously when I had that. 😂
@@TheLawnGuardian I dunno man I thought it was badass
When will to take off the blanket?👵
You're not suppose to have to take the blanket off as it is biodegradable. I may try to take it up but I would be afraid I may pull grass up with it. We shall see. Stay tuned and thank you for the support!
Steep yard 😬
Indeed! Thanks for the support!
