"Army Men" - A short cinematic by FlippinDingDong

For those of you who don't know, I've been enrolled at an art institute pursuing a degree in 3D Animation. This is partly why the flow of cartoons on this channel has basically come to a stop.
This is a quick animation I made to test my abilities in Autodesk Maya (the 3D program that I'm learning about in college).
There are two keywords there: quick & test. Don't be expecting the next Ratatouille or something out of this. Its just a bunch of Army Men shooting the crap out of each other because I wanted them to.
(plus, I always wondered what "Sarge's Heroes" would've looked like in first person.)
HOWEVER, due to time constraints, I had to wrap up this project a little earlier than I would've liked to so that it had adequate time to render it out. As a result, I still kinda consider it a work-in-progress. While there are a few obvious problems (I have no idea what's up with that dude's wrist), most of them are fairly minor, such as stiff animation, missing effects (bullet impacts etc.), and an overall fuzzy/pixelated image (I had to crank the quality way down in order for it to render in time).
Overall, this entire thing took about a month and a half to create, and 11 days (!) to render out.
As I move back to school in two days, I'm hoping to churn out a few more 2D cartoons in the future as well. - Krátké a kreslené filmy

You know in cod mw and wwz they make the M16 a semi automatic rifle
forgive my ignorance, but would you mind clarifying? I'm genuinely curious what you mean?

@@joshoneill3197 It's actually burst fire, in mw the M16 is an M16A4 which only have semi and burst fire modes, so it's correct. The Vietnam era variants like the M16 (602) and M16A1s have full auto capability.

May I just say that I love how it was revealed they're little toy soldiers?
The Helicopter is so dark inside you can barely see anything but the silhouette of the soldiers.
Then the bathroom is revealed, and when the helicopter lands, we see the plastic green rifle on our comrade revealing itself from the darkness.
I know the title makes it obvious, but goddamn was that cool.
Also, and I noticed this on my 5th re-watch last night, but Sarge's helmet is constantly obscuring the top part of his view which, do to how army men helmets work, is exactly what would happen. Kinda makes it look like a half-letterbox though.

I know this is much much later, but the game Rising Storm 2 has released a mode where you play as toy soldiers and you fight on oversized maps! You should check it out of you're still interested!

My god you have brought back so many chiledhood memories with making this bringing me back to the days of sarges heros and the other army men 3DO games this is truely a masterpiece
The tan's Aim is worse than the stormtroopers in ster wars
This is the thing why I love army men. They don't use buildings and stuff like that to cover themselves, they just use freaking normal appliance's items ( Toothpaste, Orange, TV Remote, My face etc ) as cover.
I expected this to ba joke, but this is actually some pretty good animating.
This was basically my dream as a kid. I remember playing with army men for HOURS on end. The battles were long and gruesome. 'Twas fun
I remember melting them and sticking toothpicks through their bodies, also I remember painting blood.
durring the 4th id make a battle and use the firework tanks as... tanks. its a lot of fun getting fireworks and annihilating toy soldiers with them
FrostyLawler I also liked to set up battles. Weather it be inside, or outside, I had a blast.

Originally I was going to try to pass this off as a trailer for "Call of Duty: Army Men".

Awesome video, felt nostalgic. I grew up making battle scenarios with army men and playing the Army Men games with friends like Sarge's Heroes 1-2, Army Men RTS and Sarge's War
