  • Celebrity chef Marco Pierre White tells CNA Lifestyle how he turned down Michelin’s invitation for his new restaurant, The English House, to be included in the Michelin Guide.
    White’s first establishment in Asia is housed in adjoining 19th century shophouses along Singapore’s Mohamed Sultan Road, which were painstakingly restored over three years. The property is inspired by colonial Singapore and houses stately dining rooms.
    The English House will offer modern British cuisine and diners can tuck into dishes such as stuffed cabbage in a fresh tomato sauce, and platters of Black Angus beef ribs with braised spiced tendons and jus viande. Read more here: cna.asia/2x5JhCL

      @@kidShibuya but he doesn't release guide about car,he respects individual opinions,but what he refuses is to be judged by Michelin institution which are bias and so secret and unsupportive,because there are no feedback straight to chefs from Michelin,they just judged them straight away and sometimes when chefs want explanation,they don't even bother to reply that,Marco want to get out from that system,which not just him,a lot of chefs did

    Nice decoration, tasteful and a wonderful combination of Eastern and Western styles. It is a slight shame that the host talked in a sterotypical and silly manner when she asked Marco "how did you acquire this?" and he replied "...I buy them". I love his honesty and courage when he explained that he did not give a damn about the opinions of Michelin Guide food inspectors who think that they have the last word to how good food should taste everywhere in the world.

    MPW's claim that Michelin inspectors know less about food than he does is disingenuous and arrogant. Would anyone dispute Bernard Levin's critiques on opera as anything less than authoritative? I doubt if he was able to sing a note. Would anyone accuse the BBC's late boxing commentator, Harry Carpenter, of being less than magisterial in his knowledge? I doubt if he could have punched his way out of a paper bag. Would any one have doubted that Hitchcock was one of the finest movie directors in the golden age of Hollywood? His acting skills were wooden and his speech characterized by a monotone drawl that had a soporific effect. No, MPW ignores the end result on the plate and unwisely claims that a pundit is unworthy to judge its gastronomic merits or otherwise. His claim is piffle.

    • @Kasou01
      @Kasou01 Před 4 lety +12

      Look at it this way. Those guys were good or even great at the one thing they do exclusively. MPW on the other hand, is good at cooking food, critiquing food and restaurant services as he was a 3 michelin star holder. He knows the struggle and what was required to be in that position. So as he said, he don't need them to judge his food, and they don't need him to do whatever they does. Because he's done it all.
