Lake Charles barely survived a cat 3 (rita) in 2005, we had significant flooding and incredible damage all around the city. It took years to recover. And now we have a strong category 4, almost category 5 heading through almost the same exact path rita took... I cant imagine what our city is going to look like after this is done..

Went through Andrew(Cat5) in 92. You cannot sleep. You must Fight this storm. Make repairs or move to plan B fast. Seal every room and keep doors shut. If one window pops it wont affect the other rooms. I speak to those who go through the eye or around the eye (cat5Zone)

You have to remember, Katrina was a cat 5 but made landfall as a Category 3 hurricane in Louisiana, where Laura may actually make landfall as a Category 4 !!!
the big difference between this storm and katrina is, this storm is alot smaller in size and moving fast. katrina on the other hand covered the entire gulf and move at a snails pace so it was doing its damage for much longer than this storm will. hopefully.

I was a mobile home insurance adjuster in Houston in the 80s. the piney woods of Jasper and Nac in serious danger of trees crushing the mobile homes like pop cans. GET OUT NOW. NO ONE IN A MOBILE HOME IS SAFE in the piney woods.
My house in Pearland was destroyed by Harvey so moved to SC but always praying 🙏 for all people in the path of this one.
I live in pearland, everything normal around 4pm but know winds between 30-35,
I feel for those in the path. I have been thru multiple hurricanes and tropical storms. It is extremely stressful. Please be safe and leave.

I grew up in El Paso, where it rains about twice a year and everyone just stays home when it does.The idea of looking out the window and seeing miles of open water still makes me nervous. Just ain't natural.

hey guys, i've never been through a hurricane and i didnt know what to do... we live in the Louisiana coastline so we thought it would be a good idea to tie up our three pit bull dogs with chains.. we did leave them a little food and water.. they should be ok right???!!!!!!
