  • Video from NMRA Columbus race a season or so back. Go over what goes into a pass in one of these cars. If I remember this pass was a 10.4ish pass around 128mph give or take a bit.

    That's nice they make the guys at the burnout box wait for the cars in front to leave the line, a lot of tracks don't

    I like the old school, muscle car days of 4 speed and manual shifting using a foot on the clutch. Common time and speed is in 10s and 125-130 back then - the old Dick Landy type of racing. What are the quickest cars that still use the 4 speed and old shifting method?
    Can you run 9s, 8s, 7s .... is there a limit before you must switch to automatic style ?

    • @bluesky-ud9wg
      @bluesky-ud9wg Před rokem

      It's more about the suspension set up and air gap in the clutch. It's easier on the car with an auto but with modern tech, cars are running 2,000+ horses with a stick, fully built of course but it can be done

      @@bluesky-ud9wg thanks, I like having more of the results up to the driver's skill in shifting - so I'm guessing with 2000 hp you could run 9s and 8s for sure, maybe into the 7s?

      So it goes way lower than that. They have traction control, rev limiters RPM specific nitrous, and a ton of s*** I don't know about. I just love them because on the street it's fun to pick the gears

    How long do these motors usually last. On the rev limit like that do you have any problems with the chains breaking or the phasers?

    How can he shift without using the clutch?

    • @ThePower1037
      @ThePower1037 Před 11 měsíci

      His gears are made with a very special steel, pressed a certain way so that in order to break it you would have to either shatter, or melt it. This allows them to run the transmission without any synchronisers, with every gear change sledgehammering into the gear collars. Just like the sequential transmissions in time attack cars.

    • @bradleybatt1401
      @bradleybatt1401 Před 4 lety +3

      Find the appropriate RPM for your car. Rev it and hold it at that RPM in 1st gear and make sure Traction Control is off to get the best launch and then hold it at the bite just before she wants to take off and then on a green light dump the clutch quickly and floor it. :)
