I don’t care if people end up saying they don’t sound good live anymore. The fact that they played this in it’s entirety makes me happy.
They all sound fantastic except for serj who hasn't truly given a fuck since 2006
@ConfusedLemur66 he has his moments but I'm pretty sure he doesn't really enjoy playing this type of music anymore
@@RaaZVan99 I agree, he can sing Mezmerize and Hypnotize songs well, but the rest is just awful and he doesn't deliver energy nor good vocals because he just isn't into it. If he wanted he could sing like back in the day + growling even too. But he doesn't care.
@@ben1ben I really don't mind him not growling / screaming / doing extreme vocals. But even the really soft bits sound quite off and that's just sad. And as you've mentioned he could totally sound way better but he has no interest in doing so
@@RaaZVan99 Yea he can easily get rid of nasality singing, I guess he doesn't want to take his time to do that since he doesn't care for soad anyways. I think his singing fits his solo career but not at all to soad. And I only wouldn't mind him not doing screaming when he actually sings right. Because not singing correct and then also not doing special vocals of a song is just boring. Jesse Leach from Killswitch Engage took his big break from Killswitch because he needed to find himself, he learned how to sing correctly and use techniques for screaming and growling and look how great he is doing today without problems. Back in the day he could only perform for 2 nights and the rest of the nights he couldn't get a tone out because he fucked up his voice all the time, now he can do everything very easily because he does it correctly now. If Serj cares he could do exactly the same.
For this song Serj's nowadays singing style is perfect.

Serj's voice has changed and its noticeably harder for him to pull off the insane metal notes of his youth, but this kind of slower, ballad like song is perfect for his older vocal chords.

Idc what people say about Serj's voice now. When you live your whole life using your full power it's eventually gonna wear down especially as you turn older. Despite this, you can hear him putting his all into his singing still; the emotion is still as powerful as it's always been. One of the greatest musicians to ever have lived and one of the greatest bands to ever exist \m/
It's insane how this band can write comical songs (ie cigaro etc) having you laughing your ass off and then sing you songs like this and make you want to cry like a kid... All in a matter of minutes

I'm still relatively really young but I LOVE System Of A Down, my dad listened to them when I was growing up and I ended up liking their music a bit in my earlier years and I love them now. I wish he could hear me practicing playing their songs now but there's some things you can't change... I'll continue practicing their songs on the guitar for my dad even if he can't hear them now.

they sound great, serj has way more power and vibrato to his singing, daron got a bit pitchy at only one point in the falsetto. i hope the critical fans aren't expecting them to be jumping around like they were when they were on drugs and young in the 90s lol... they still sound great to me

Always a joy to hear this track live and in Drop - C the CORRECT pitch for SOAD - none of that Drop C# nonense in 2005! John always plays the shuffle beats during the verses very well and Daron and Shavo's vocals harmonise ethereally!
Drop C# can do some nice, but sometimes Drop C is wayyyyy superior. Come on Mezmerize/Hypnotize!
