My security plus expired last month. I think i will not do any more Comptia Certs since Comptia as a company seems to be geared towards being $$$ grabbers requiring you to renew every 3 years and then doing those Ceu's. I was not aware at the time that you have to do ceu's. I payed a renew fee last year and didnt realized that didnt renew the certificate. I will just stay in the Microsoft Realm. Good to have you active on the Channel again though!

I get it. CompTIA's certification structure incentivizes you to progress down the certification track. Check out www.comptia.org/certsroadmap . As you know when you take a test with CompTIA you have three years to renew it or do CEUs. The other option is to take a higher certification. My A+ and Network+ certifications do not expire until April of 2028 because I passed the CySA+ exam. Unlike other vendors, CompTIA will add years to your certification vs. having the reset button pushed and the three years start over. This does not apply to all certifications.
I do think as you progress through your career some people tend to "out grow" CompTIA certifications. For example, if you take Network+ and then move on to a CCNA, there isn't much of a reason to renew your Network+. The same could also be said with Cloud+ and then moving to Azure or AWS. CompTIA appears to be trying to combat this issue with the CySA+, PenTest+, and CASP certifications.
Overall I think CompTIA is a great place to start when trying to break into IT. It's a great way to show an employer's competency in an area.
