When singing in an ascending manner, it's called Aaroha. For descending, Avroha.
Singing Exercises: (Alternate Svars)
1. Sa Pa Sā
2. Sa Ga Pa Ni Sā
3. Sa Re Ma Dha Sā
Try singing with only Sa + Pa pressed down, not every note which is sung. Try singing two or three Svars in one breath; increase breath capacity.

I think I have finally come to the platform I was hunting for so long. Mam, I'm 67 yrs and I can say that my mastery over the swars is quite good. I have sung songs like गरजत बरसत in public. However, I am not able to take my voice to high pitch although I am very comfortable singing on the lower pitches. (Since I'm not familiar with the music terminology I hope I'm conveying it correctly) . All my life I have been singing with my throat, not from the stomach with a खुला voice.
Singing from the throat, I can take the voice to any pitch but then I think that's not the correct way to sing.
I have been longing to learn music for a very long time but never got a chance. Do you think at my age I will be able to learn it properly without voice cracking etc?
Please guide.
yes u can learn and sing also but u should practice to sing with stomach not throat... by stomach u can easily sing at any age
