    I was born in Brazil, never leave the country, but 5 year ago a discovered that my father's family was from Luxembourg, so I got a new citizenship. I don't speak German, I don't speak French, and not even a single word of Luxembourgian, but I am Lëtzebuergesch in the paper.

    There are two scenarios where we Germans are patriotic:
    1. On the internet. You probably have experienced this before, we really like bringing up the fact that we are German online.
    2. Football. You will never see a German flag flying except on government buildings and the occasional proud German's garden. Unless there is an international football event happening, like the world or European cup. The whole country will shine in black, red, and gold.

      Visit the allotment gardens, they are the last bastions of our nationalism....well....they have an above average ammount of germany flags compared to the rest of the country...
      Or get into state flags, they are far more command everywhere and if you travel to the dark regional nationalistic stereotypical state of germany, bavaria, they will shuff it in you face everywhere. Just say you are a "Franke" and they eather consier you the best person ever...or worse as dirt :D

    Geschnakken is quite close to geschnackt, which means talking in flat German (the northern German dialect)

      I think he just "Germanized" the Danish word "Snakke" which means talking. The -ge and -en makes things sound more German to us. :P

      Danish draft is basically a 3 month draft of military "practice" for 18 year olds, but there are enough volunteers yearly to not need to involuntarily draft anyone

      @@gr8sword97 I know it’s for the joke but the not-working things is a huge clichee, since French fought for their right to work 35h/week. But actually, they are working mostly 40hours/week or more, except single moms or students who work part time. France is even the 3rd country in Europe on the scale of working time.
      Also the labour market is so competitive and saturated in France that people would do anything to have a job and keeping it, like working more hours for free and without declaring them. It’s even in the tradition of desk jobs to not leave until the boss does.

    How to translate Danish to German:
    1. Add 'Ge' to the beginning of the word
    2. Add 'ch' after a 's' to get 'sch'
    3. Let your word end with 'en'
    (4. Change 'kk' to 'ck')
    Now you have translated 'snakker' to 'geschnakken'

      Als lebenslanger Fan der Schlagermusik will ich dir sagen, dass ich finde, dass die Musik von Helene Fischer einen riesen Mehrwert für die deutsche Musikszene darstellt und es im Bierzelt mindestens 30% langweiliger ohne ihre Hits wäre. Helene hat es geschafft, dass ein großer Teil der Bevölkerung, die nichts mit Schlager zu tun hatten, plötzlich Zugang zu einem ganzen Genre fanden.

      @@Masterofcreat Meine Oma hat früher immer mit mir so Schlagerfestivals geschaut. Mit dem Hansi, Silbereisen, Kasselruther Spatzen etc.
      So wenig ich schlager auch mag muss ich gestehen, ihre Musik ist nicht schlecht. Definitiv erträglicher als das andere deutsche "musikalische Kulturgut" der neuen deutschen Welle.

    I did this to become Hungarian a couple years ago! My grandfather was Hungarian and I have alot of family in Budepest which allowed me to get myself a Hungarian passport without ever learning the language or living in the country (I currently live in Canada). This opened alot of doors for me in terms of travel in the same way a German passport helps you. It was an excellent investment and only cost me about 130CAD. Anywho great video and I just wanted to share!

    Fun fact: Geschnacken isnt completely wrong if you wanna translate talking, because in some parts of Germany "schnacken" is slang for talking with someone/having a conversation.

      @@xinyi2008 well "Sprechen" is one of the words for talking but it's used in a more serious/buiseness-like way. "Reden" is the more casual word for talking and "schnacken" is only used in some parts of Germany.

      @@theClassicsaddict I think a lot of Danes can apply for German citizenship. But they just do not know it. I found out recently that I have great grandfather who were born in Schleswig Holstein before the border was redrawn. Which means allot of Danes can apply for though birth.
