They were mortarless and easy to dismantle to lower the rulers taxation. In 1996 Alberobello became an Italian UNESCO World Heritage Site, thanks to the unique architecture and historical value of trulli houses.

The conical white roos of the Trulli create a unique landscape.
The video camera captured the Trulli from a very close distance, and it was enjoyable for us to see the decorative stones on the tops of their pointed hats.👌😊
We also learned about the story of the siamese twins through the video content and enjoyed a virtual walk in the charming village, beautifully highlighted in white under the clear blue sky!🎶

Beautiful buildings! They look earth quake proof.
Hi Nancy 👋🏻 They do look pretty sturdy don’t they. Historically these houses were dwellings for the workers of the land and their families, to avoid the land owner paying the King’s tax, the roofs were able to be dismantled at very short notice and therefore they would look like a ruin and not be taxed. Today they are more securely built and many are holiday lets in the village of Alberobello, they are super cute though, like a fairytale land of the hobbits.
