  • I installed an AEM 30-0300 wide band kit in a 2005 gmc sierra.this would be the same process for a 2003-2007.5 Gm truck and would probably be the same steps for any vehicle. This is mainly meant to aid someone who is unsure of the process for installing a wideband and also to help guide someone who's installing one.

    Best detailed install video I've seen for these kind of trucks, looking forward to more content bro! as I have a lq4 swapped Silverado with a 228/232 tsp cam 👌

      I’m just now getting into this more, I lost my password for a while. You still have your Silverado?

    On your truck, you need to install the Wideband install as close to the front as possible.

    PLEASE don't start the engine on a hot sensors. When the gauge says "HEAT", it's not kidding around. The sensor's ceramic element is heated up to over 1000F ( yes thousand degrees ). Then, gets hit by cold startup exhaust gas. This is the #1 cause of early sensor death.

      Thank you for that information. I normally don’t start the truck on a hot sensor, I was checking to make sure the sensor worked before starting the truck.

      @@gmckid9166 Ah, ok. I just cringe whenever I see that done. Those sensors are EXPENSIVE ! And then people complain that they die. I don't know why that info isn't the 1st thing in the manufacture's instructions.

      So if the sensor is hot doesn't that mean the engine is still hot? I would think the sensor cools faster than the engine.

    • @lordandprotector
      @lordandprotector Před 3 lety

      @@ismaelcarrillo3956 No. The sensor has its own electrical heater. As soon as the gauge has power, it starts heating the sensor up to 1450°F ( Hotter than expected EGT ). And, even on a warm engine, the first few turns of the crank are cold ( no spark ), until the ECU syncs up with the trigger wheels..

      @@lordandprotector so in that case how long does one have to wait to re start the car? , This seems like a big problem I mean what if you have to shut the car off at the petrol station after a few runs and then start it after filling up?

    You need your sensor closer to the manifold.

    How do you install to work with HP Tuners?

    Question, what did you end up doing with all the other wires that were just left there?

      @gmckid9166  Před 3 lety +1

      I know I’m super late on this but I just figure out all my passwords again. I never ended up hooking them up. I was told it could be wired into the OBD2 port but no one ever told me how it could be done

    Your clamps are leaking, get 3" clamps , dynomax on Amazon and copper rtv, or weld it and weld in v clamps

    How many engine grounds are you runnin

    • @gmckid9166
      @gmckid9166  Před 3 lety

      I have a body ground that comes off the back of the block, then there’s the one on the driver side under the head, and lastly the one that goes behind the front bumper. Those are just the factory grounds, I haven’t added any extras into it
