  • The final boss of Another Crab's Treasure defeated without taking damage and the ending. At least Kril gets what they set out to do.
    This is the only fight that I struggled with to the point I needed to use magic. I was able to complete a magicless hitless phase 1 but the rarity of everything coming together plus nerves on phase 2 inevitably leading to a mistake had me throw in the towel on it. Firth moves pretty fast (especially in his first phase until reaching 50%) and the lead-up for his four-hit combo gives little time to parry or dodge out of the way. The electric eel adaptation, 3x sinker+ stowaways, and wave hammer allows you to capsize Firth in both phases pretty fast and keeps him from doing too much.
    I'm generally pretty bad at souls-like games so definitely glad to complete them hitless, though I don't think I'll be anywhere near ready for Elden Ring DLC next month.

      Yeah all he did was follow you around being a leech while idolizing villains, tell you to kill yourself, then steal an artifact and declare himself a god and then try to become rich and rule the world fully knowing that it would destroy the ecosystem and stomp out a lot of people long term and flat out kill people from dropping a literal island made of waste on a city in the short term.

    They really tried to portray this guy as evil even though he was the least angry soul in the main cast haha. If anyone was prepared to do the right thing, it was this bozo. He was just stupid. And they dropped a big boot on him for that. I found it a very cold message. Like "oh people like this are hopeless and should just be killed". This aligns with the anti-complacency line at the end claiming that all anger should inspire action, like peace and calm is fundamentally incorrect. Devs oughta read YKK sometime. The maelstorm of affirmative action is behind most of the man-made problems we see today. Pollution only even exists because people fought long and hard and actively for human comfort. Good intentions are all well and good, but they can never be the whole picture. Keep that in mind.

      You know what? this is a good take. I understand your point completely though I disagree on whether Firth deserved what happened to him. Beyond himself, he represents all the ills of "Crabitalism" and the "trash economy" which is inherently unsustainable. Firth's goals to create a permanent boom and lessen trash exposure ultimately get nothing done as A: a permanent boom is impossible as it demands infinite growth from a finite source(that whorl did have a limit) and B: Just slowing the trash isn't the same as stopping it. Eventually, everyone would get gunked due to exposure, but slower. I'd like to add again that Firth literally became the Avatar of Pollution so it's pretty obvious there.

      @@thechosenfundead6626 His goals were wrong, but not because of his heart. He was simply ignorant. He never shows any reverence to the trash economy that overpowers his reverence for the well being of others. To him, they are the same thing. He had to be stopped, of course, as stupid folk shouldn't wield society altering power, but he has done nothing to deserve being demonized. And it's the way the game handled his death as a gag that to me suggests he is demonized and dismissed as a worthwhile person. Ignorance is not a sin.

      @@dopaminecloud Not ignorance by itself, sure...but *willful* ignorance, which is what Firth had, *is* a sin. There's not knowing any better, and then there's knowing well enough that something's wrong, but they still go with it and/or pretend not to know. Firth literally has all the qualities of a cryptobro, and to some extent, a debate bro that inherently argues in bad faith. Yeah the boot-death was out of the blue, but I see it as more of a representation as "Guys like this don't realize how this will lead to their own downfall and eventually everyone else's, and truthfully they don't care"; I wouldn't take that too personally. Besides, the game wasn't any less critical of Kril anyway; you saw how Nemma called him out.
      That we dismiss anger as "irrational" and "destructive", not understanding that alot of the time it can be a good thing especially if it's born from a place of outrage and disgust with injustices, is fallacious and cold logic that itself needs to be dismissed. I dunno where the criticism against "affirmative action" came from, but I'm not here to address that nor do I care to. The whole point is, the world in this game as well as the world as we live in, is not that of YKK. Idealism is nothing but a slippery slope for dangerous naivety and blind optimism; you can't be so selfish as to expect calm and peace as the default in the face of an inherently violent world that, more often than not, will *especially* respond violently to calm and peaceful methods as history has shown numerous time moreso than vice versa.
      There's a reason why expecting martyrdom to be the default way of solving things in modern times is frowned upon nowadays. It's important to be pragmatic above all else. Sometimes anger is actually a good thing.

    • @dopaminecloud
      @dopaminecloud Před 11 dny +2

      @@Protoman2024 I don't believe it was willful ignorance either; though it could have been so eventually. There was shaking in his faith and a need to prove himself right in his actions. Desperate validation for a slipping worldview he is attached to. This is only ignorance, avidya. Which is a universal burden and not something to treat with disdain. Mindset does not switch on a dime. I understand what he is INTENDED to evoke, but I don't think that is what his character actually is within the story. Would have taken a few extra scenes where he actually acts in bad faith. If you compare how he is treated tone-wise compared to the apt anguish of the ocean, it doesn't really land for me.
      "That we dismiss anger as "irrational" and "destructive", not understanding that alot of the time it can be a good thing especially if it's born from a place of outrage and disgust with injustices, is fallacious and cold logic that itself needs to be dismissed. "
      Of course. I wasn't aware such dismissal is even common, anger has always been respected in my life as an emotion of passion. Its value is only decided by the direction of that passion, as you say. But passion can be attained without anger and if it can be while still pointing in the same good direction, that is always superior. We call that ambition. Anger itself holds only negative worth, it has to be leveraged to become valueable in spite of this, thus the message in the game about not fruitlessly stewing on it. What I disagreed with is that action is the only way to leverage anger. That that is not the whole picture. It's often a fine path, but it's so important to see the full picture whenever possible. And with anger this full picture also contains a path to peace.
      YKK presents you with examples of the virtue of loss and transience, that's why I brought it up. The purpose of idealism is showcasing the good sides to concepts we have difficulty accepting in the murky waters of reality. The perspective you can gain there is what can let you leverage anger towards peace. There are many hints of this virtue in the game already, in how the trash is presented and the nature of the villains, but I am not entirely convinced this is intentional as it's not brought up in the narrative in any way and I don't know how subtle these devs are trying to be considering how direct most of the story is.
      "It's important to be pragmatic above all else."
      Reasonable above reasonable, and yet the exact reason our ocean is full of plastic. It is an endlessly self justifying stance. Not an easy opponent when the goal is a better world, not easy at all.

      I want to add as well since we're yapping way too deep already: What a nice daring little story to put in the crab game. I was very impressed. I've seen some people actively dislike its more direct preachy qualities, but I am of the opinion that it is exactly because it wears that heart on its sleeve with that strong real world connection that it's this interesting to talk and think about.
