Apparently 3.24's Necropolis is dead. Who cares! GGG made a big (controversial) splash in the patch notes department this week, and though it wasn't with the purpose of spicing things up, social media sure got spicy in response! Ya that's a smart move to journal your pill intake. I have to do the same, not only for my own faulty memory, but to ensure others in the house aren't stealing them from me. Of course, I forgot to make a note in my journal when I had to refill the prescriptions, lol.

I personally think the main reasons for the very low retention was the market more or less. The Fubgun strategy in the beginning of the league crashed the market THAT hard that some items became "impossible" to achieve for regular players, i.e. Progenesis, which can only drop from Uber Maven now and to get to that boss you need 5 fragments that drop from t17 maps, therefor progenesis was like 80-100 divines this league. On the other hand there are items that usually are 100+ divines that are like 5 divines now, like Headhunter. T17 Maps kind of made everyone "feel bad" that ran a usual farming strategy because you can printz loads and loads of currency on them, but to run t17 maps you need INSANELY strong builds.
To sum that up i would like to disagree with the statement that "the game is in a good spot".
The game feels the worst, at least for me, it ever has... build diversity is down the drain, i.e. some T17 map bosses straight up shotgun melee builds to death (Citadel and Sanctuary Boss) or they place AoE effects they are NEVER moving out of. GGG said they won't improve melee before PoE 2, now it feels like they are actively designing the game AGAINST melee
Or GGG is inventing more and more new ways to inflict ppl with stuff, i.e. are you imune to bleeding? you are? fine! what about corrupted blood? you are? what about boiling blood? oh you can't get immune to that ... bad for you...
Same goes for slow effects but that story has been told over and over and over and GGG doesn't really seem to care. You can be chill / freeze / hinder / maim & stun immune and still be slowed or "frozen" by tar ground / petrification / delirium hands (groudn effect) and I am sure I am missing one or the other.
Every second build uses the adorned jewel this league, no matter what kind of build you are playing ... and at one point you start feeling dumb for not using it in your own build because it DOES make every build so much better.
Whole farming strategies have been made obsolete with just minor things, i.e. Delve as everyone gets TONS of sulphite now, resonators have gotten dirt cheap, or rog crafting, why even farm for Rog if you can simply craft a 4 fracture item with even influenced mods via graveyard?
Might be that I just overplayed PoE, but I personally even think that Expedition was WAY better, only other league that might have been worse for the game is Archnemesis and that is not because the league was bad, but because GGG wasn't able to let go of the Archnemesis Mod Pool idea.
Those are all really good points! I remember when Sirus was added to the game, GGG took over a year to add more accessibility to Corrupted Blood prevention. People basically "had" to have one specific amulet. Hopefully it doesn't take them long to turn things around again (regarding all your points).

To me it is shit league and I get that retention reason. But oh well, game is still kind of enjoyable with the way Atlas tree allows you to re-shape farming style. I always remember Mark's words in one of the interview when he said to players "deal with it" regarding some issues. Back at you - deal with it after this league :D And f those silly potatoes who brought 6 link broken items for mirrors and got spanked. Deserved.
Totally. I guess, the 'deal with it' went both ways this league, for sure. (I'll always agree with your spankings, too 😉.)
the socket issue is clearly a bug and people should even be banned for abusing it. it's not an unexpected feature that came with the league i.e. fractured influence via gravecraft
It's hard for me to give a fair comment or response on this situation as I'm not totally aware of all the facts and issues but banning people in my opinion needs to be for incredibly bad reasons and I'm not sure creating items a specific way in the game should ever cause that regardless of what they've created. But again I could be out to lunch
