It's always interesting how, in movies with first contact between Humans and Aliens, there's always that one shot that seemingly comes from out of nowhere meaning either a Soldier panicked and disobeyed orders or someone is deliberately trying to start a war.
Which is funny because soldiers obey the rules of engagement for war and *should* know not to fire unless fired upon.

since i bet when spy sats etc showed how hoppelessly outmatched in tech they where.. the us would likely have the majority of its assets bogged down in desperate efforts from the rest of the planet to stop them agitating said alien... while all other nations etc as soon they catch on his reason to be there likely would be dropping green peace members , green tech engineers and sociological scientists on his head in droves to talk his ear of about how large swats of human civilization is trying to change direction ,yet... the instinct to fight to survive agenst something trying to kill them directly being triggered is one of the few ways to halt such efforts in its tracks.
or how his own species only changed when facing extinction and not even hade to face the same great filter/crucible 'self restraint' challenge like humans and thus hade no comparable data yet where judging not just the planet destroying mega nations , corps , religions etc to death.. but also with them all the miniroty nature loving mythologies , humanitarian organisations and nature protection focused unaffiliated groups..
not tomention if any other species ever heard of it that could be seen as a sign that even trying to change once noting collateral environment destruction where pointless and only war with said aliens was an option.

This movie is so ridiculously accurate portraying how humans are in particular America. This is exactly how we would act except even worse and is exactly what our government would do. hand is not an arm, the robot was not sent to destroy the human race, it was sent to judge them. Even had the wrong movie name.

Perhaps humanity as a whole does not, but there are people who would truly give their lives to leave things better than they found them.

I had to quit watching, the immediate freeze framing was unwatchable for me. I've watched other channels do these recaps without all the freezing, maybe some people like it this way but I like to see clips of the movie when I watch these.

HEY ."Electrocution " means shocked to DEATH..Otherwise you say person was SHOCKED..Ive heard you make this mistake sevrral times in movie recaps.

I had the same argument with a friend of mine about a year ago, I said electrocution means 'Dying from electricity', and he said "look it up in the online dictionary", so I did, well, as it turns out they've "Broadened" the meaning of the term 'Electrocution' to include it to mean just getting a SHOCK!!.....

Looking back this seems like a crappy concept. Imagine beings more concerned about a lifeless planet than those that live in it.
No. You missed the point of the concept. In the movie universe very few planets are capable of sustaining life, and humans are very close to making the Earth incapable of doing so anymore.
Basically humans are a disease that are going to make it so the Earth can sustain life anymore... At all!!!
You're an advanced species. Do you save the planet so it can continue to sustain life or save the humans who are making the planet uninhabitable forever?
