    Well Ian, i must admit, i am very impressed with your Videos. Im not a fisherman....nor will i ever be, but i find these videos really interesting. You are a natural presenter. Your enthusiasm and respect, for what you do...and how it might impact others, is fantastic. Not be silly here, but i would rather here listen to your voice than David Attenboroughs'..seriously!
    Its aways a bonus, when youre watching, that you actually know the landmarks. As a "Foreigner", (please dont take that the wrong way) you are the perfect ambassador, for the mighty River Ribble.

    Great little video of the mighty ribble.
    This was one of the best stretches back in the day, and safe to fish- sadly it’s run down now with a lot of people fishing illegally and isn’t safe to go down here alone- I’ve had friends who have had their tackle stolen and beat up on numerous occasions…. I’ve spent 25 years down this part of the Ribble and sadly no longer fish it due to all the crime and shady people.

    • @PikerBiker
      @PikerBiker  Před 10 měsíci

      Thanks Louis. It gets a few bad eggs in the closed season and in the heat of the summer. Mostly decent folk in the colder months these days. Bailiffs patrol it regularly these days with body cams and drones to catch the poaching offenders and litter bugs. It is a stretch that is fast becoming a barbel hotspot for the North. Thanks for watching.

      @Louis-gl7fu Před 10 měsíci

      That’s good to know…. Although I’ve been down a bit this season and can’t say it’s any different, it’s only a matter of time before poachers are there, bad apples free lining and shady folk… I go on the bike now as cars are not safe in the car parks.

      I used to fish there in its hey day, and loved walking down on what i call the right side of mellings wood only to be shot at with air rifles, scared the shit out of me, I wouldn't then ever think about parking my car on the estate as so many people reported windows smashed radios gone car scratched sorry no these poeple still live around there. @@Louis-gl7fu

    • @PikerBiker
      @PikerBiker  Před rokem +2

      Hi punkydrummer, watch a video by James Robbins on the church deeps… it’s not a textbook trotting swim because of the back eddy. However the reward is a full net of roach and perch and prize winning stamp of dace! Check out the area above church deeps for your classic trotting areas. Sand and gravel with a gentle slope from mid river to far bank. Clean bottom and full to the rafters with silvers! Winter is the best time for the big roach. Dace can be caught here in huge numbers. If it’s barbel you want on the float, try the Ribchester area on the village front in Autumn. I have a video on day ticket and free stretch which covers the Ribchester village

      The ribble is stuffed with Chub and early season is the best time to target the chub on lures/flies and this gets even more so in summer when you can take chub in the upper most layers of the river.
