    The bases that people build in these early versions are always so unique despite using nearly the same block palette. Perhaps the limitations bred creativity.

      Absolutely. There are plenty of cool vids out there of people building amazing stuff. Highly recommend checking them out.

    • @blubberfish
      @blubberfish Před 5 měsíci +16

      yeah. there's no objective "better" or "worse", but in old minecraft players went a lot harder on the utilitarian base building while modern minecraft is all about transplanting real-world buildings into the game as accurately as possible. My theory is it was the limited pallet and more difficult survival incentivizing those kinds of bases, while now since surviving is much easier and the available blocks are so vast, it can feel like if you aren't making the best looking base possible you're doing something wrong.

    Players like yourself I find admirable and inspirational. Seeing and hearing the love you have for your world, and the stories and history about it you told, was a pure delight.
    The concept of your zero zero pagoda is wonderful. In all my time watching minecraft videos over the years I am struggling to think of anyone else doing something similar. Now I have a new project for my world too! Thank you.
    Your spider drowner is a true blast from the past bit of old school building. I remember building so many of that style back when mob sorting became the current trend. Had totally forgotten about it, but now I have a very fond smile on my face. The hours I've spent standing underneath that open water, looking up at spiders helplessly drowning and dropping their string down to me.
    09:52 Man, your view across chocolate bay to the zero zero pagoda is lovely. Seeing it twinkling in the darkness, ring after ring well lit up, with the fire beacon on top is so good. And the lava face of the giant stone creeper works brilliantly. His body is hidden in the darkness, which is very thematic for the stealthy monster, and just those burning eyes and mouth shining out, is *chef's kiss*.
    Think I am just going to be babbling constantly in euphoric nostalgia, judging by how happy and chatty it made me when you mentioned that the tilled earth of your wheat farm can't be trampled due to having fence posts underneath.
    Your world is a stunning time capsule filled with heartwarming nostalgia.
    Myne "I have six double chests of cactus. Why? I don't know, but I've got it." And that right there is the perfect summation for how our particular type of minecrafter - hoarder - plays the game. We may not need it now, but we know we will need it some time and want a lot of it for when we do.
    I chuckled when you showed your 239 diamonds and said "Diamonds, which I am actually starting to run low on, so I probably need to do a strip mine session soon."
    Your valuables chest is even more incredibly impressive when modern players learn that back then there was no such things as enchantments, so fortune wasn't possible and you got one iron from one ore, one diamond from each ore, etc.
    I love that you've got those decorative wheat glass boxes in the corner. Once again you display something I've not seen really done for so, so long.
    Even the smallest things about your video and world brought me silly joy, like seeing you go through your chests, and they are the old, full block sized chests not the modern ones that are smaller and have space around their edges.
    I am going to have to cut back on my utter delight because I am only 20 minutes into a 2 hour video and look at the length of the comment so far. Sorry about this.
    Myne re trees "...you have to force it with bonemeal. In modern minecraft they grow beautifully in rows, so they're quite easy." Yes indeed. I remember a time when trees growing could take forever, sometimes even nearly a week in real time, not game time. Modern players have no clue how easy they have things.
    It's like why you've recreated Chocolate island; for passive mob farming. Back then passive mobs spawned naturally on grass and weren't only spawned when the chunk first generated. Modern players won't know the "joy" of decorating your rooms with lovely grass and then coming home one day to find your room full of sheep and cows.
    Was pretty much nostalgia overload once you started showing your etho-four-way-mobivator mob farm. Oh my, how I love, love, love building mob farms. When water moved mobs around so easily it felt like all things were possible, and using doors to sort them mid-stream was fun.
    Myne "I had to use an app to find this slime chunk." Don't blame you at all. Some of my friend Gnarlo's early brocraft server videos from over 11 years ago show how I used to hollow out the entire earth at slime level and then fence each chunk so that when a slime eventually spawned I knew exactly which chunk it was from. Locating slimes back then was not easy at all. But automatic slime size reducing grinders were fun to build and I had to grin to see your water channels with their steps to help lift and move the slime. So, so good.
    41:02 Seeing mobs through walls because of their identification number over their head is yet another treat from the past that modern minecrafters have never experienced.
    Mr Skeletal is awesome. I only went so far as building a giant skull but think yours is far, far better. Yet another project you've given me. Myne "Sometimes I come and bring offerings of bones to him for good luck." More wonderful story and lore to your world, and that's really neat. Can never have too much lore in a world.
    1:02:08 Minecraft used to generate crosses often, and for a time the community used to love to attribute them to the mythical Herobrine. I particularly enjoyed finding and caretaking them. What I think happened here for you is that the cave was generated underneath the surface which was gravel with just the random cross of dirt, and then gravity dropped the gravel into the cave leaving just the dirt floating. Either way it's something extra special and I would truly treasure it.
    After mob farms my second favourite things to make in minecraft are travel tunnels, so it was a pleasure to see your travel hub and the good old E.A.T.S road. You really have a world curated of minecraft history and class.
    Myne "Once again, I am copying Etho. I'm sorry." No need for sorry. Etho is one of the most influential creators for those of us who enjoy the innovative side of technical builds. In many respects your world is not just an hommage to him, it's a historical document of his superb creations. For those of us who have been with him right from the start, your world is a joy filled delight of memories of things we've built ourselves.
    Your snow perimeter is impressive. Very, very impressive. Madness, for sure, but madness I can relate to because I've done my own too. Not in such an early version of minecraft though. Without efficiency or mending this must drive you insane after awhile. But you're a testament to perseverance. Just mine what you can, when you feel like it. If you do that, as you say, you'll be done one day.
    Sorry for the epic length comment, or novel as it should be called, but I just found your world so interesting, so wonderful, so nostalgic. You've got a thing of history, of hard work, or rarity there. You have my utmost respect. Thank you for sharing this. I enjoyed every minute.

    I love your world. Your base reminds me of Ethoslab's chocolate island base with the mob farm above it.
    Also hoarding is so relatable. I have about 20 double chests of cactus and maybe 7-8 double chests of sugar cane. I barely use it lol

    • @Myne1001
      @Myne1001  Před 4 měsíci

      The base layout & design was directly inspired by Chocolate Island. The hostile mob farm is a slightly modified version of the one Etho built in that world. The passive mob farm uses principles that Etho showed in the snowbase just before resetting the map.

    Man I miss this building style. While I love the variety of blocks available in the modern game, it tends to push people into building more realistic, structured bases. It's a bit hard to describe, but even when a base isn't necessarily "realistic" (like a futuristic style, or colourful cartoon-y build), it's still usually identifiable what it is. There's something about these old-school bases from alpha and beta that can only be described as "Minecraft style".
    Walking around your base, there are very few identifiable structures that we can relate to, whether realistic or fiction. Like you kind of have an entrance foyer, but there's lava in the walls. The storage room is kind of a big atrium, but the weird there's paths and staircases in all directions. There's a giant slab on top of the base full of animals with a bunch of pipes flowing out. You get the idea. It's so fun and whimsical, but totally foreign to anything concrete we could compare. It's a shame this style has died out over time.

    • @Myne1001
      @Myne1001  Před 4 měsíci

      Thank you! One thing I find about Beta is that people tend to use blocks creatively. I've seen soul sand used as a building material, something which modern players never consider outside of perhaps a nether themed build or just a nether wart farm. Also wool isn't as used anymore as concrete has superseded it for colour.
