  • Regarding the lighter fluid mod, I soaked the bearings for about 1 hour but I agitated them by setting the jar on top of my dryer & letting it run so the vibrations would help clean out the bearings.

    Lighter fluid removes all the oil or grease in the bearings, dry bearings WILL spin longer but with no lubricant wont last. I prefer a slight bit more drag with some light silicon oil. Bearings still spin well but they won't seize.

      Yep I agree, I just wanted to try this out to see if it really works & it did! My bearings ended up failing after a few weeks due to being dry, so I do recommend a bit of very light oil

    I assume the lighter fluid cleans any grime from them but also most lighter fluids will leave a light powdery residue, which I assume is working like a lubricant 🤷‍♂️ something that might be worth trying is skateboard bearing speed cream, used to make skateboard bearing spin real nice 😊

      Yeah I’m still not satisfied with my bearing lube. I want to get some PN racing lube or whatever the racers use & then just clean the bearings with acetone. Only reason I used lighter fluid was due to guys in the Facebook groups recommending it, & it did work but I think I can still do better.
      I know what you mean about speed cream but I feel like it will be a bit too thick for this scale. We’re dealing with ultra light weight systems & I want as little resistance in the bearings as possible. I feel like speed cream is more intended for a heavier set up with more inertia, 1 skateboard wheel & bearing set would weight nearly as much as a mini-z 😹

      @@BMR3 that could be the case, perhaps a different bearing lube would be better, on racing lube sounds like it’s made specifically for it so would probably be the best way to go 😁

    Can you do a video on how to take apart the steering components on the ma020 chassis I can’t seem to find any videos on how that works cause I was looking for a servo upgrade but don’t see many options. Thanks so much love the videos they are very informative

    Hi. Do you have any idea which type of ball bearings should I get for the differentials on a MA-020? Cause I lost the bearings that came together with the RTR set and I have no idea what code or type is the bearing I should be looking to buy. Thank you.

      get a pack of the Z-tech bearings, mine are still going strong & you will have back ups.

    That grime is shredded rubber from your tires. If you test drift on plywood, you would immediately notice in about a single session of 15 mins.

      I know what you mean but I’m running hard plastic tires not rubber. It could be from the tires or the coffee table I’m drifting on

    Hey mate I have a query. It's about my mini z ma020 I've done a fair bit to it in mods, one of those being the kyosho hard universal swing shafts. I have snapped 2 of said shafts in the rear. Just wondering if you've ever experienced anything like this?

    Hi dude, just a quick one... Use the kr331 syncro touch reciever with your kyosho tx to use channel 3. I'll link Adams channel he got one off me(you an get from kyosho usa) and it works great with his tx. I'll get these bearings too thanks 👍🏽.

      😹😹😹 KT432pt is old news! I went & blew my budget out of the water with a Sanwa m17, now I just need to pick up some micro receivers. Should have that unboxing out tomorrow.
      Thank you for the information tho brother!

    Personally i use a (clean) paintbrush to clean my micro RC's after each use, especially to remove dust on the chassis and on the wheels.
    I'll check if those bearings are available here in France. Seems to be a very good upgrade.

    Where did you get parts for parallel steering? I would like to talk cars with you. I've picked up a ma020 and have many mpower parts but having hard time finding things like red front knuckles and heat sink clip.

      Sorry for the delayed reply, that XRX video I just released was fighting me for a couple days. File was so large it kept crashing crashing my MacBook & causing all sort of headaches.
      Anyways regarding the front knuckles, have no fear brother I have your back 😉 here’s a link to order direct from the manufacture in Hong Kong for DIRT cheep: www.broadtech.hk/eagleshop/shop/ShopProductDetail.aspx?id=MA20VE-29-2
      It looks like stock is super duper low so I would order ASAP if I were in your shoes. Also, since it’s coming from China I highly recommend ordering EMS & picking up some extra parts since shipping will be so expensive. Here’s a link to check out all those ma-020 parts: www.broadtech.hk/eagleshop/shop/ShopProduct.aspx?type=Search&keyword=Ma-020
      Regarding a red motor clip, that’s going to be hard to find. I believe X-Power makes a red clip but be careful ordering from their website, from what I gather they are either out of business or they were bought by a company that no longer monitors the X-Power website... honestly I recommend getting a silver PN Racing motor clip & call it a day.
      Let me know if you have any questions man!

    • @BMR3
      @BMR3  Před 3 lety +1

      As far as I know they are an RCM8 exclusive. I mean it’s a standard size bearing so I’m sure you could source some yourself, but these ones specifically came from RCM8 & have amazing performance

      @lanemurphy8395 Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks for the reply, that’s really too bad, i know bearings are an essential part, and the price for the actual bearings is acceptable, but for $30 shipping would put it to almost $50 total and that’s crazy

      @@lanemurphy8395 happy to help man! I’m glad you found my channel ;)
      For someone in your position I would recommend buying a spring set & that’s it. Spring kits are relatively cheep but can make a world of difference with regards to “feel” & it’s something you notice right away.
      Other then that, I recommend cleaning your stock bearings (with acetone or 99% alcohol) & then relube with some quality lightweight bearing (or silicone) oil. This should make your wheels roll noticeably smoother if you have a second hand AWD that hasent been maintained.
      Then if you really want to change things up you can do the DIY locked rear Diff to test it out & see if that’s up your ally. I suggest using putty or even printer paper to jam up the gears, if you use glue there is no going back & its personal preference thing that not everyone likes.
      Let me know if you have any further questions, I’m happy to help & good luck brother!!

      Sounds good, any spring kit in particular you would recommend? I cleaned my bearings good and they seem fine. I think i’m going to put some thick sticky grease in the diffs to tighten them up but not bind them completely. Also looking at a different, higher quality motor, any suggestions for that? Looks like they’re only about $20, been recommended a PN 70t ball bearing, but heard Xspeed is faster? Don’t actually want to go all that fast, just have a good, smooth motor

    Great video!
    All bearings need to break in.....some have a heavier grease from manufacturing ...........oor quality bearings are becoming the exception, coming out of China. But it’s really all about the driver😎
