Finally someone who really knows what they're talking about and can show and prove. Thank you!!! Very helpful.
I've learnt cracking when sia was on the carpool karaoke show. She said then when you wanna push.. Just make your cords tighter.
And when I did that.. And breathed in, My voice cracked... So now I'm able to talk with cracks. That was a good tip.
Cool! Great work Neal! -NYVC
@@NewYorkVocalCoaching thanks for that
+NealDcunha could you please explain it but more completely please ? I really wanna know how to do it!!!!
everytime you say "CRACK" with that voice...I start to laugh like a stupid! :D

You are the greatest vocal pedagogue I've ever seen!! Thank you SO much for your CZcams Channel!
+Véronique Rivard Thank you so much for your support! :)
Voice lessons with leonardo haha
Lmao 😂
I love your videos. I've never had the anatomical side of singing explained so thoroughly and clearly.
I love the way you teach because you give examples with your own voice and using your hands to demonstrate. We’re able to imitate and learn
you mean you NEED cracking?? lol the body is so smart! It's telling you "hey, you're not on this level yet."
GIG GIG GIG GIG GIG
FINALLY I learned what compression is!!!
you are an amazing teacher! very easy to understand the concepts.
Thank you so much for recommending this, I'll keep practicing to get permanent results!
Im very glad i discovered this channel. I love your explanations. Quite thorough and understandable. I am working my way thru some vocal challenges and your channel makes me feel i could take some charge of my issue. Had a pelvic floor prolapse and lost major diaphragm control. Along with cracking and swinging into falsetto long before needed
watching your lessons is very inspiring. thank you. now my practice is more focused and less stressed. and I don't have doubts anymore. hope to take some lessons in NYC one day.
+Vladimir Goryachev We are so glad to be a part of your vocal journey! Keep up the awesome, stress-free work! And if you'd ever like to schedule a Skype lesson with Justin or any of our teachers here in New York, feel free to visit newyorkvocalcoaching.com! :)

Aww! So nice of you, Sam! -NYVC
I want to be able to learn how to squeak /crack my voice on purpose like Sia does especially in her song Alive... how can you learn how to do this or can you even learn how to?
Hi Annie! Thank you so much for reaching out, the answer to your question stems from extreme control over one's vocal registers and transition between them. We encourage you to send your question to questions@voicelessonstotheworld but in the meantime, happy singing! :)
Annie Blackburn YAAAAS THATS WHY IM WATCHING THIS😭😭
Annie Blackburn same
Thank You! This made my voice sound way better with higher tone and also better with no cracking!

Very well articulated. Nice work
How to crack like sia omg please do something like that 😭
You first need to learn the basics of how to do a yodel. I'll talk to Justin about making a video about it in the future. Thanks for your question.
Thanks so much Justin , your explanations are brilliant with the demonstRations of wrong and right usage of vocal chords
Thanks for these very kind words Angela! - NYVC
This has helped me to also understand where the mix is placed, hopefully I can strengthen it for belting. Thank you!
Super glad this was helpful to you Anonymous! -NYVC
You have the best vocal instruction videos by far on CZcams. I just really wish I found you years ago
same
tankmaster1018 SAME! (middle school talent show regrets🤢🤦♀️)
Man, these are great lessons!
U r the coolest vocal coach on youtube....totally subscribing!
My style is more operatic because I used was taught that way. I want to transform my style to how is used to be! I used to be able to crack and sing like Sia (hitting high notes and all) but now I can't crack my voice and I just sing the notes really straight! I'm trying to improve my voice slowly and this video really helped me find my voice again! Thank you so much!
THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!! i have been singing my whole life and had 3 vocal oaches and none of them told me about a mix or head voice so i have never worked it. I am 25 and JUST trying to use a mix and head voice and cant seem to sing a note above Bb3 without terrible cracking. It seemed that it was strengthening my voice but now i know i was right! THANK YOU THANK YOU THAAAANK YOOOOOUU!!!!!! I dont feel as crumby or crazy now!
When I got to learning mix voice, this is the hump I can't get over. I'm stuck with compression problems
i liked and subscribed today because ur videos are realy user friendly, clear, encouraging and nice. besides...i like ur voice...thank God for helping me discover u...lots of love.

Thanks Sandy! We also have Episode Chapters now! Check the description for the chapter segments! :) -NYVC
This really really helped me!
I needed this. The "gig" helped me understand compression. I feel like I can use it and see how it changes my ability to hit higher notes. I'll start from the Middle Notes though!
Wonderful! So glad to hear it helped you TG! -NYVC
I didn't know that DiCaprio was giving voice lesson. hahaha, Thank you, very good video!

I almost fell out my seat at the 1st part when he said cracking is a good thing. Wow.
I love your "breathy" examples. It reminds of Jim Carey's character Vera de Milo from In Living Color.
Can you make a video about how to crack? I want to learn how to yodel.
thank you for ur videos de r really so..helpful
So perfect 🤟🖤
the titles of your videos alone make me uhh "crack" up
Just subscribed...thank you you're really good!! 👌🏼👌🏼
Thanks so much! New episode coming in August! In case you want more specific voice training, may I suggest Justin's vocal training course: voicelessonstotheworld.com/page/vocal_course It's fabulous and affordable. I personally think he should charge more for it.
I love how when you dont join in you just have a random guy sat at the piano saying complements to a camera
Ok jokes over great video really helped me 😂
Lol! :D -NYVC
OMG Thank you soooooooooooo much!!!!!
I love you so much justin you inspire me to be better singer muah!
We are so glad to hear how inspired you are! Thanks for sharing! -NYVC
finally! I always strain my voice while singing so it tends to crack when I'm trying to reach high notes -,- I also noticed that when I try to reach high notes, my jaw tightens giving me headaches and makes my voice sound like I am shouting, what should I do?
Awesome lesson!
+Doctors of Everything Thank you for your support of Justin and VLTTW! :)
Thank you.
Thanks a lot Sir!
Thanks for watching Preeti! -NYVC
I'm not a singer by far, But this was interesting. Soon i'll go all Backstreet Boys thx to this dude!
Hello. This is a great question! But, remember to please send questions for the show to the e-mail address for questions. Thanks!
These lessons are fuckin awesome!
Mariah and sia's cracking voice are the best🤪🥺.
They're pretty darn cool! -NYVC
5:16

😄 -NYVC
Thanks a lot .. it's scientific and helpful
We're glad this helped you Tapan! -NYVC
Thanks
Hi Justin, Thank u so much 4 free lessons on utube. I wanna know, what course did u take in college? Was it Conservatory of Music? U'r a musical genius & u know d scientific explanations of ur lessons. Some people say that we cannot have both worlds: powerful voice that fills up a concert hall or belting high notes. Is it true? Or can we have both? I want to learn more. Thanks .
dear Justin: compression is really awesome for a singer and I think it's the missed part of reaching mixed voice for the first time.
But sometimes my larynx feel uncomfort.
Should I stop immediately? When this happen
Thank you so much for all your knowledge. I feel like my cracking happens in my chest, I go for a note and I cant get pass, my voice gets faint and I cant control what's happening. Its mostly the in between notes never on a high note. You ever heard of this? ..I'm befuddled.
Great tutorial....much appreciated. I crack all the time but also have a natural rasp..... Which I feel I strain too much....Still working on it.... thank you
Keep up the awesome work! :) -NYVC
@@NewYorkVocalCoaching Will do
this was very helpful but i couldn't help but laugh throughout the whole video😂
gr8 video
I think you mentioned it but it came and went so fast but the flip side of developing compression is learning to finesse the light coordination so you get to where the sound is connected but not strained light but not breathy sort of like meeting the vocal cords where they are. You mentioned this recently in the episode on expanding your range,
By the way I’m a student not a coach I just thoroughly enjoy pedagogy
Yes! This is an excellent point! -NYVC
I always crack when I sing in my mix voice😂 thank you for thiss!!!
Yep! Totally! normal! So glad this helped! -NYVC
GIGGITY GIGGITY GIGGITY
RedMoon xD
Hi my voice doesn't crack. I want to be able to crack because ive seen it to be very useful. i am not being able to use it. how do i make a my voice crack?
I do this exercise first now, most effective on cracking voice then i continue with compression exercises. My voice used to break a lot, now theres a lot of improvement plus i can do 2 notes more already (From C4 to E4)
Im bass type so it may not sound too high to others but its really effective guys!
Great work, Sena! -NYVC
Awesome video
Here in india classical teachers will say the same thing
cracking is fine
Awesome! -NYVC
At the last part you sounded like you were rapping haha thank you tho for this!!!
How do you smoothly transition from head voice to whistle register smoothly?
Hi Logan! You can bring your question to Justin's live chat if you like! More info in our Community Tab! -NYVC
wow the mix is so frustrating sometimes. like I try not to get loud as I go up, but in order to keep compression as I go up, I end up with a sky high larynx. I will keep on trying though, maybe I'll have a breakthrough. my chest voice is fine, I'm getting the hang of my head voice, but my mix is always tight, and squeezed.
I couldn't go up on the gigs. But when I said who instead, I went up with ease... Why?
8:06 Right! Do a lot of crack before I go on stage! Got it! 🤪 LOL JK LOVE THIS VIDEO!! 😁
does this exercise help to increase my vocal range? i have trouble singing alot of songs because i cannot reach most of the notes the pop song have
In your video you gave an example of complete head-voice. I was wondering if this was also an example of falsetto. I have looked a lot online to find the difference if there is one, but i get a lot of conflicting answers. It would be awesome if you could clear that up for me. Also, if they are different, how can you tell the difference in your own voice.
5:27 for practicing
Here I am 8 years later trying to crack like SIA
I want to practise this on my keyboard. So what are you playing there? I am looking forward to an answer
is it ok if I feel I'm going into falsetto during the higher notes of the gig exercise? or is it a larynx issue?
What about on purpose cracking like blackie lawless on cries in the night chorus
