2008-2013 was simply an iconic time
That late ‘00s/early ‘10s music scene will always hold a special place for me. This was when I was, surely, getting into music I liked and not picked out by my parents (even if most music that my parents gave me was still cool to listen to!). Anytime I hear one of the songs or a snippet of one, a wave of nostalgia just cascades through. So many catchy tunes that stuck with you!
wake up babe cozy just posted!
Wow. The 2000s man. What an incredible time to be a teenager and a young adult back then. Great movies, music. Shit was really dope. 2009 was the first time I went to Warped Tour, that was crazy.
It's crazy that 2009 is entering high school now
I entered high school in 2009 omg
That would’ve been last year that’s 2010 now
Mad props for repping the New Boyz, i still have a lot of love for them and a lot of of late aughts club rap. OH MY GOD WHY THEY JEANS SO TIGHT!
"ringtone rap" I'm crying 😭😭
you rule for the shoutout, thank you! ❤
I remember the music videos for Tell Me Something I Don't Know and Naturally from Selena's Kiss and Tell album being played a ton during the Radio Disney segments of commercial breaks on Disney Channel. I only listened to the full album recently, and I was kinda digging the pop-rock sound she had when she was with "The Scene". I wonder if giving her band that name was a reference to scene/emo culture at the time, since she said in an old video on her youtube channel titled "ep 4 band tryouts" that she wanted to make a band instead of being a solo pop star because she loved bands like Forever the Sickest Kids, Fall Out Boy, Paramore, and Flyleaf. There's also a video where she hangs out with Forever the Sickest Kids for a day and sings She's a Lady with them as well as a "making of" video for a remix of Whoa Oh featuring her on guest vocals.
Throwback to eight year old me jamming to almost all of these songs on my old iPod Nano and iPod Classic. Long before I had an iPad to listen to music on, anytime a road trip or a vacation came along, I had these two things to accompany myself with, and man, was I jamming out!
That time period was special for mainstream music! Very flavorful! I miss the days when you heard a song for the first time on the radio and fell in love with the catchiness.
09 was my 8th-9th grade year, i thought i was so grown lol! every time i hear songs from that time im taken right back to that summer and my old friends. i can’t believe it’s been so long it feels like yesterday
Can’t stop partying came out in 2009 and I haven’t stopped since. Help. I need help.
Man what a time to be alive, this year was fun.
I graduated high school in 2009 so it’s a special year
2009 was huge for scene music. You had albums like Stand Up and Scream by Asking Alexandria, Homesick by A Day To Remember, With Roots Above and Branches Below by The Devil Wears Prada, To Plant A Seed by We Came As Romans, and a lot more.
goofballification is something that i relate to on a religious, emotional, physical and spiritual level
Cozy!!!!! Thank you for another video!
I was waiting for The Fame Monster's time to shine. That was PEAK
Stand Up and Scream coming out too mann
See, in 2009, Lady Gaga was pure electronic, 4 on the floor...
I remember every pop punk/scene band at the time covering Just Dance or Pokerface.
My only complaint is you didn't mention a band called There For Tomorrow. I miss and love that band so much, and their album "A Little Faster" dropped in 2009 and it is perfect from front to back.
so good!
omg yes!
2009 was about the time when I quit caring about new music. I would have been 25 years old. I think that's when many people quit caring about what's new and trendy. So I don't know much about this stuff here.
I am now realizing that “retrospective” has the word retro on it.
What a fun time to be alive! I loved this era of music. So glad you mentioned Cobra Starship as well💖
THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED AFTER A LONG WORK DAY THANK YOU MY FRIEND ❤️
I’m in the same boat right now 🙏
I know it's probably not "pop culture" but the iconic 2009 song to me will always be Knives and Pens by Black Veil Brides. I'm the same age as you but I didn't know the majority of the songs on your list outside of Bieber, Gaga and Owl City.
Hit The Lights or Senses Fail next!!!
i love hit the lights!!
Forgot about them lol
The GOAT does it again
this video took me back to good times :') I was in 6th grade in 08 and loved all this music (even Train lol).you've GOT to look into LMFAO! I was shocked to find a nepo baby
Looking back on 2009 was a blur for me. I was sad that Fall Out Boy being the only rock I liked was starting to trail off behind the current trends. Just remember hearing the same songs from one republic, black eyed peas, taio Cruz and lady Gaga
AWESOME VIDEO 🤘🏻🔥
great video bro!
Drops of Jupiter is one of the best songs of all time ! Of all time!
2:22 i hope the 2009 vibe of not gaf comes back bc it feels like people give too much of af nowadays Especially on places like tiktok and twitter
tldw: "i wish i was old enough to belly dance at warped tour in 2009"
Been on an '09 kick lately as well, very solid list! I remember hearing all of these at the time. 😎
I dig The Great Wave print, I've always loved it.🤙🏻
I love your content so much cozy!! It’s like you READ MY DIARY. I AM so fixated on this year culturally, musically, socially, everything. “The ripple effect of Soulja boy” that made me die haha. also shoutout Boston im also from the northeast. Wondering if you ever heard some of the popular hits at the time from Boston local, Sammy Adams. He sort of made his own version of “I love College”, called “I hate college”, and had a few other hits around 2010-2012. Was in that vein of frat guy college stuff lol
You should make a series out of this!!!! Different years in media!! i would love to see like. 2007
“Eminem rapping like Borat” just sent me
Also Hey Soul Sister is like the worst fucking song that has ever been recorded
I remember Selena Gomez & The Scene like it waz yesterday 🚬
Always love your videos. Owl city is so good!!! You've gotta listen to it more. My hs bestie and I would bowl cruise to it back in the day! It was iconic.
i still listen to owl city to this day my all time fav song is the real world
oh boy my favorite topic!!!!! 2000s pop!!!!!
Hahaha your videos are always so fun. 🤩 ❤
Man 2009 what a fun year. Lol
speaking of Cobra Starship... i'm not sure if this warrants a whole video but i would love your thoughts on When We Were Young Fest!
That first Asher Roth album is awesome. His later stuff is awesome.
Cozy we need to see the cat 🗣️
Ocean eyes is actually his second album
Let's goooooooo!
Tegan and Sara's Sainthood released in 2009, that by default makes it a fire year
i may be biased because it's my favourite album of all time
I remember running in circles around the school gym to these songs
Ice-T was probably the first rapper to switch to rock in ‘92. Way before Lil Wayne
You are so eloquent and coherent with your words and i am impressed with your elaborate knowledge on music! i also think you are very cute :p Love from chicago!!!!!!!
LMFAO still slaps I'm gonna be so serious
What's up fellow Massachusetts fella!
Unrelated but you GOTTA do a Copeland history video.
Bieberaholic. I believe the term you’re looking for is Belieber ☝️
It’s crazy I’ve always been up to date on new music it multiple genres but from 2006 to 2014 I knew nothing but Lil Wayne
Please do a video on From First To Last!!! 🧡🧡🧡🧡
Weezer or more specifically Rivers can do not wrong in my opinion he’s given us enough greatness
Just clicked for raditude
I was 16 in 2009
Owl City was never my vibe but he’d been on a project prior called Swimming With Dolphins and the song Sunset, 1989 RULED
tru
Make a video titled The “downfall” of DGD
LMFAO retrospective when
NICE got a new debit card bouta re join the patreon
Not gonna lie, Train’s earlier stuff like Meet Virginia was pretty good. Drops of Jupiter was ok, Hey Soul Sister was trash lol
Fucking hate Train! Good call!
Who up cozying they representative?
🎉
Ah hell nah. Raditude slaps. I still can't stop Partying
TAKE NME BACK TO 2009 😩😩
Lmao hey soul sister is also my least favorite song ever
100% on the stance that shut up and dance is the worst. Made me hate the band entirely
You're so too thousand late.
Shut up and dance with me or w/e that genre is…I hate it
mgk is not a rapper
2009 was such a time
