The idea of suave Antonio Banderas in the voice booth making those hairball noises puts Puss' intro into top tier comedy. Combined with the Zorro vibes (if you haven't seen the Banderas Zorros, please do) Puss is an amazing bundle of meta-humor and I'm really glad he became such a fan favorite to get his own movies.
The claw popping out - he's a 🐈 burglar There's so many hilarious visual gags in Shrek 2. The knights chasing a white bronco (OJ) and peppering Shrek are some of my other faves.
I love the opposite version of the frog prince in this. (although Shrek endlessly unlearning the "be yourself, being an Ogre is fine" lesson becomes wearisome).
I saw this in the theater with my niece, who was about 10 years old. When the Fairy Godmother was mixing her love potion and pouring in the Lust, my niece said, "Uncle Stogie, what is lust?" Me: "Umm....uhh.....it's very strong love." Niece: "Ohhhh...." 😄😄
"Took away his happiness! He's so depleted..." "I'm a real boy!" "Aah! Oh..." Pinocchio's "Aah! Oh..." is so funny. They do a great job utilizing the side characters for the finale.
Another triumph from inimitable Ames. What a feast of voice characterisation! In addition to the principals, you've got John Cleese. Julie Andrews, Jennifer Saunders, Antonio Banderas, Rupert Everett and more. I can envision the legendary Mel Blanc and June Foray smiling down from their immortal home among the stars.
The level and amount of winking self aware humor in this is incredible. The grinder was pepper in his eyes, as it was a joke on the police pepper spraying him.
@@theradicalginger3060True. I think the first half is kinda weak because they wrote themselves in a bind at the end of the first one. However, the last part is genius
Love it Aimes! Been a fan of Shrek 2 for a long time, its on the short list of sequels that is BETTER than the Original (everyone relax, okay, just my humble opinion). Bob Barker is the former host of the long running American game show called: The Price is Right. He was very popular and he was an animal rights advocate. He would always say during each episode to "Always make sure to have your pets spayed or neutered". So when Donkey says "lets give him the Bob Barker treatment" I interpret that as "lets castrate him". I never caught this reference before so thank you. He was putting salt in his face! - Nooope, he was putting PEPPER in his eyes, mideval pepper spray!
I saw this in theaters when it came out and everyone (especially the parents) were cracking up. It was a constant thing. Every 30 seconds a joke would land and everyone was into it, but when the gang is watching 'Knights' (Cops spoof) and they mention the White Bronco...the theater was laughing so hard people had tears. This movie is so clever and it's the perfect type of animation in my opinion. Kids can enjoy it for the message it brings and the characters, but adults can enjoy it with the clever jokes that go over the heads of the kids. I liked the first Shrek movie, but I think this is the best of the bunch. After this though it's all downhill so I really only care about 1 and 2.
I have to have surgery tomorrow morning on my sciatica nerve. So I guess I'll watch this reaction at the hospital LOL love you Ames and love you guys enjoy watching your reaction video.
The Bob Barker Treatment, on first meeting with Puss when Donkey suggests giving Puss the "BBT" he is referring to The Price is Right & legendary host Bob Barker, from 1979 until his last appearance in 2007, Barker would end each episode with the following words, “This is Bob Barker, reminding you, help to control the pet population - have your pets spayed or neutered. Goodbye everybody!” - His iconic catchphrase, “Help control the pet population. Have your pets spayed or neutered,” became synonymous with his commitment to animal welfare and responsible pet ownership, a plea that was continued by the man who succeeded him in the role, Drew Carey.
Great reaction. "By the way my fly's undone...". A little random. Then again, does it really matter? We see you from the waist up. Plus nothing is going to escape. Is it? 😂
Due to my hearing issues, I wasn't able to understand several of the lines spoken in the movie, but just seeing your laugh in response to them more than made up for it.
Great reaction Ames like always, This is probably the best sequel Dreamworks has ever made! First off the story is 5X Better Then The first movie's story in my opinion. This movie also had good humor and was pretty funny at times even for a kids movie. One of the best things about this movie was the end. The way Jennifer Saunders did the rule of the Fairy Godmother was Incredible! Jennifer Saunders (Fairy Godmother) KILLED IT singing "I Need A Hero"! I remember this movie was how I was first introduced to the song and I absolutely loved it! Keep up the good work.
My wife and I rewatched these a few weeks ago, and I had forgotten how much of my humor and jokes come from Shrek and Shrek 2. Shrek has a special place in my heart because the previous looked 'really' stupid, but it was the only moving my sibling and I could watch on a hot summer day, and we were so blown away by how good and clever it is. Shrek 2 is one of those rare sequels that is even better. It is brilliantly put together, has so many delightful jokes, the characters and action are all great. It is one of those movies where pretty much everything lands in it. One of the highlights is the brilliance of Jennifer Saunders (a brilliant and hilarious British Comedienne) as the Fairy Godmother.
I would say your Pinocchio impression was a little wooden, but it was really rather good. It's a great film. I've seen the first two films several hundred times over the years.
My favorite Shrek quote is from the first one: "Some of you may die ... but that is a sacrifice I am willing to make" I think a lot of politicians think like this, especially a guy in Moscow.
Wonderful reaction, seeing you laugh so much is just awesome. So many jokes and references in these movies. I'd love to see your full length reaction but can't spare the cash to join patreon atm, maybe one day though.
Let's not forget the whole "Sir Justin" bit. Beyond the Justin Timberlake reference, rememeber that Fiona is voiced by Cameron Diaz, if you all recall, at that timevshe was dating Justin Timberlake 😂😂
He fits both. Based on UK terms, Mongo can be a slang term for “huge” or “extremely.” Mongo or mong can be a slur for a “stupid” person. The big gingerbread man fits them both I guess lol The king being a frog had a couple hints. Walk around the lily pads where we had our first kiss and the random female frog asking if she knows him in the bar :) The puss in boots movie is good, but The Last Wish is on another level.
Dawn did you know in Wayne’s World when Wayne says I break up you months ago and the rest of the band is drinking drinks and Garth has a straw drinking a doughnut and the other guys are drinking out of cup for their drinks.
This comedy roast from Puss In Boots to Donkey.... Donkey drinks the Happily Ever After potion- Shrek: How do ya feel? Donkey: I don't....feel any different. I look any different? Puss In Boots: You still look like an ass to me. Donkey gives Puss a "Boy, shut up" look-
I think you'd really like Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. The animation is incredible for the time, and it's such a fun time. I can really see why it's still so loved almost a century later.
Just started watching your channel. Your laugh is contagious. I heard you say the only trucker movie you've seen is smoky and the bandit and over the top Well you haven't seen a trucker movie till you've seen the legendary movie Convoy
My favorite joke in this movie that everyone seems to miss is when Puss says "I hate Mondays," which also happens to be one of Garfield's catchphrases. It's such an on-the-nose reference that I hardly ever see any CZcams reactor pick up on.
That was an amazing ride, just the thing I needed today! If this is your jam, I strongly recommend taking a look at "Galavant". Two of the funniest seasons of TV ever produced, IMHO. It's got the same brilliant kind of humour, plus loads of songs by Alan Menken on top.
Jennifer Saunders has a great voice🔥 How she sang that song... unforgettable 😍♥️ Thanks for your videos, it's a pleasure to watch☺️ I love your laugh, voice and smile🥰🫶

Gingy getting great lines again. His squeaky little voice is adorable.

Shrek is unbelievably overrated. I was 14 when the first movie came out in 2001 and even at that age the hype of it was suffocating
Glad you got the “We’ve got a white Bronco” bit. Not everybody catches that one 😂
That power uppercut in the opening song is a reference to Street Fighter's iconic Ryu/Ken uppercut.
