Despite the comments and hate for this new show, I loved it. It captures the spirit of what made the original good and adds to it. The only issue I have is the Pirates section. Should have stayed as Peter Pan. Other than that, it's amazing! The new Mickey lines and animations were fantastic, and some of the reorchestrations were even better than the originals! As someone who adores the original show and has the music cues and timing of each segment perfectly mapped out in his head, I give this new, updated version a 10/10.
9.95 for the inclusion of the Pirates section in my opinion though

There are occasional issues I see from this new edition. the frame skipping right there 2:56 was not really good.

I just get chills because they’ve updated the part at the dragon so it looks and sounds like Maleficent is actually cackling in different directions and it’s so well done and creepy!
There's a tribute to Peter Pan in this show. I saw it last night when I saw the show for the first time. If you look closely at the moon that is projected above the cabin, you can see silhouettes of Peter Pan, Wendy, John and Micheal flying. In this video, you can see it at 13:51.
The Peter Pan segment used to be my favorite, Im glad there is still a tribute

A lot from the original could have stayed, because some of these segments just don't flow well with the show, from some of the music to the dialogue. I will admit the upgrade to the special effects are nice, but there's just something off about a chunk of these scenes.
Peter Pan is in the whole new world part.
I feel like the biggest problem here is the fear of overlapping their different movies and worlds. They'll do it in small ways (The White Rabbit randomly appearing in Friend Like Me, Combining Little Mermaid / Finding Nemo into the Monstro scene), but they never fully embrace it. Why not have Peter Pan, Hook AND Jack Sparrow? Have Pan and Hook fighting like normal when suddenly "He's a Pirate" starts blaring as Jack swings onto the ship and starts a mutiny. Maybe more than one princess couple to a float? You could still fit Snow White, Cinderella and Tiana. Have Genie create the Pinocchio puppet scene with Mickey alongside him. Throw other wild jungle characters like Rafiki and Terk alongside King Louie...
Just go nuts with the crossovers. This is meant to be a world of imagination. Have some fun with it!
Aidan, the thing is, your ideas are not _better,_ they’re just _different._ I’d say they went nuts. If you were watching this and thinking about what _you_ want to see instead, hey, go sit in a dark room, close your eyes and have a _Fantasmic!_ show just for yourself. I’d say almost everyone else who watches this-not the diehard picky-as-hell Disney fans who comment here-were overwhelmingly satisfied. And, yeah, I know, you are free to have an opinion. So am I.

Imagine how great it would be if Captain Hook was trying to get Jack Sparrow's compass because he wants to use it to find Peter Pan, then Peter, Wendy, John and Michael would swoop in and fight along with Jack, doing some swashbuckling action with the Caribbean Crew as they fight off Hook's pirates!
@@darkprose I mean, this is a cult classic show that's been running for over 25 years, of course there are gonna be the diehards who will compare the two shows, and they're gonna be nostalgic about the parts they loved.
LOVE the new version. I go to Disney in the evenings after class sometimes just to watch this. Can’t wait till this is all over and we can watch this in person again

Something I really like about this Fantasmic is that it feels like they put together what worked from each of the incarnations of the show. Like merging the Lion King and Jungle Book segments from the OG and the DHS version, and the evil queen trapping Mickey in the mirror like Tokyo’s version.
There are things I still miss though, like old vocalists, the queen’s transformation, and the way Maleficent appeared in the original. I just kinda prefer how Maleficent started rising after transforming instead of just immediately rising
That was great for the most part! Loved that they used pink elephants in it. The pirate scene could have been so much better, the dialogue kind of killed it but it looked great. The villains part was amazing! That dragon! Definitely wouldn't mind it coming to Disney world. Side note- that one girl doing the hysterical screaming needed to calm down a bit lol.
Thanks for the great video! I'm personally not a fan of the Pirates of the Caribbean addition. I also wish they would've kept the Evil Queen's transformation scene, Pinocchio, and Peter Pan. The vocals for Ariel's part seemed out of place for me too. I also preferred Mickey's dancing in the original during the ending fireworks sequence (where he points on beat to the fireworks being shot in sequence).
TheBryantCabrera I'd say i miss all of his dances that are on beat with the music.
Everytime I rewatch this new version, it keeps throwing me off because im so used to the original music beat, transition and dance choreography that all blends perfeclty
agreed. great video as always Daps but I'm not a fan of this new Fantasmic 2.0. I would have been fine with updating projectors, fountains and mist screens but all these major show changes have sadly ruined the show for me. For years we watched the 2nd show once a week and it would leave me smiling and happy even my jaded friend loved it. It never lost it's magic even though we would watch it weekly. I now have no desire to ever see it again. leave it to Disney to make unnecessary changes to a show that had never lost its popularity.
I completely agree with you. The Peter Pan segment was the best, in my opinion, and I'm heartbroken that it's gone. The Evil Queen's transformation was one of the coolest moments as well. They replaced Snow White with Rapunzel (not a fan of that change either). It's just a completely different feeling. Not a fan of the 2.0 version.
I would agree with every single point you made! I think all the additional scenes were great add ons. The pirates was a fresh scene to watch but after a few minutes of it i kinda got bored with it...I miss my Pinocchio scene (It seriously was so cute!). I like all the new technology with the projections and updated water features. I think Mickey should also light off every firework at the end like he's sorta controlling it. Lastly I will miss the famous dancing moves Mickey does with his index fingers out in the beginning shaking back and fourth. Change was needed and it is fresh but I still kinda like the old stuff too.
I'd agree with everything above, but also add that I prefer "Brave Little Tailor Mickey" during the final battle with the dragon. I liked seeing different incarnations of Mickey throughout the show. For everything the WDW show got wrong, they seemed to understand this element and even added "classic Mickey" into the Jafar snake scene. Portraying Mickey as the "Sorcerer's Apprentice" throughout the entire show diminishes his final appearance in that form on top of the cider mill.
I think this is the best video out there rn taking in quality and location of filming.

I'm not crazy about some of the updates from the "dream" sequences. But what really pissed me off was the elimination of Snow White on the "princess rafts." She's the OG princess, Disneyland. Show a little respect! >:(
It makes sense having Tangled for one of the floats since it ties in with the movie. I love Snow White and was bummed hearing she was removed, but Tangled is my favorite Disney movie so I was happy.

IM SO SAD !! THEY TOKE OUT THE WENDY AND PETER PAN SCENE WITH CAPTAIN HOOK !! 😭😭 that was my favorite part as a kid. I was really hoping they would be at the end on the Mark Twain boat with the other characters but they weren't 😭😭
The Pirates Scene should never have replaced Peter Pan.

I went to Disney land yesterday for the first time and this was definitely my favorite part!!
I can't remember what day I was there, but it was so much fun!!! I was so beautiful and fun. The Pirates of the Caribbean section when it just appeared scared the living daylights out of me and my family, but otherwise it was amazing and we all loved it.
Thank you for uploading this! I hope that the Disney's Hollywood Studios version gets all of the upgrades so I can experience this version of Fantasmic! Only thing I didnt like was that Mickey wasn't setting off the fireworks towards the end! That part is key to him gaining control of his imagination back! But still, Bravo Disney!

the update is ok overall but I would have kept more aspects of the original intact, especially the main vocals. The new main vocals are way pitchy and way off key.
I do like the updated orchestration.

All I have to say is that when all of the colorful lights and the princesses made am tear up a bit and the beginning I'm so proud to see that DisneyLand brought back Fantasmic RIGHT AFTER I LEFT DISNEYLAND also when the villains showed up I was like "We got all the ways to be W-I-C-K-E-D" but I wish I saw it in person
I'll always be a fan of the old Fantasmic more but it is still an amazing show! Thanks for broadcasting this so I could watch and see the updates! Can't wait to be there in October!
who else is back here watching this in 2021? i love this video in particular because you can just feel the opening night excitement from both the audience and the performers. (god i miss this show, and i can't wait until it's safe enough for Disney to bring it back)

Has anybody noticed that this is somewhat kinda sorta like Tokyo Disney Sea's fantasmic? (The genie part, the magic broom part, Mickey going into the mirror, Mickey's movements, and the fact that he stays in his sorcerer's costume the whole show)
I didn't like that he was in his Sorcerer's Costume the entire time either? Like That costume and his tuxedo and thats it?? Cmon Mickey, we know you have clothes in your closet?!?

Considering this was only their first ever MAIN performance of it's 2nd incarnation I would say they did pretty damn good :)
That was not a great change. Loved the projection system and the LED fountains. A lot of the transitions were hard to watch let alone listen to. Pirates of the Caribbean sucks, bring back Peter Pan. Lion King, Genie, Little Mermaid into Nemo makes no sense other than to fill space. Aladdin and Jasmin on the carpet with the projections in front of them was a great move until the transition into Beauty and the Beast. Changing just one princess to make use of the projection system with floating lanterns, Disney is better than this. Capturing Mickey in the mirror was a cool change. Over all the ending was good with the updated lighting system. Overall kinda bummed with the story line that really doesn't need to be there, just so we can put something in there and call it a update.

Dang, they sure made some improvements. The detail they do is pretty amazing.
I love that they updated the show and the imagineers and project managers breathed some new life into it! If I were PM’ing this task I definitely would have had the magic carpet fly closer to the audience, and added all of the Disney princesses and there respective princes. Even if the princesses had to be played by guys, I feel it’s far enough away that it would be ok! I also would have the beast be in human form because most of the characters in the park (except for Ariel at times) take place after the occurrence of the films. I definitely would have added Oswald and Minnie to Mickeys journey, and for the villain scene, added a giant full scale float of Ursula, with the Dragon along with a bunch of other villains live performed, Judging by the audience reactions, it seems the loudest applauses comes from the live performers, not the projections. I am fine with the pirate ship scene however the action and choreographed stage combat should have been intensified to peak maximum applause. Overall a job well done!
The last 5 min of this show make me teary-eyed every.damn.time.
Is it bad that Im crying about how beautiful this all is? The energy, the effort, everything is like a beautiful painting perfectly put together from the lighting to the music.... I feel this version has more energy put into it than ever before. No doubt the og was gorgeous, but holy crap. The energy and scale... The costumes. FLYNN AND RAPUNZEL

National Sarcasm Society I've seen the new Fantasmic on youtube severeal times, Beauty and the Beast & Part of Your World are sounding much better, but I See the Light just doesn't transition good for the show, it's an amazing song & It was perfect for the show but I was disappointed by how it turned out in the show, it felt really off :/

Fun fact: To play as Ariel in Fantasmic, you need to sign a waver. Her tail is strapped to the boat, and with all of the fire and flares shooting out, she has to be covered in a fire blanket until the boat passes the flares and when people arrive to get you out.
I dont know if that is still needed in Disneyland. I know they do it in WDW because she is on the back of the boat but in Disneyland she is on the front.

Only at Disney World. In Disneyland you can just take the Mark Twain Riverboat to the far side of Tom Sawyer's Island, as most of the pyro is in and around the stage, but for Walt Disney World, there is no far side, there's just the backstage area of the Hollywood Hills Ampitheatre, where you're still at risk of the pyro. So only in Disney World does Ariel need the flame resistant blanket.

I kind of wish Oswald would pop up on the river boat at the end. Without him there would be no Mickey.

I hate all the comments hating on the change. The original was obviously amazing, but the update is still really cool! A lot of the comments say they like the update but that they wish they kept *insert scene here from original.* Guys, it’s an update! Seriously, they were going to change things. I like the inclusion of Pirates, Rapunzel & Flynn, and the magic carpet scene. They are all really nice. People are complaining about them getting rid of Snow White and Peter Pan. As much as we should pay homage to the past, seeing new things brought into the show is really awesome. It’s nice to see the show evolve for a new audience and the old audience, too. (And also it’s so much better than Florida’s.) (I’ve only ever been to the WDW show in person, so Disneyland is lucky to have such an AMAZING show.)

Or have the belly dancer outfits less revealing, They could wear harem pants. Too much legs! Besides It's reuse animation of the dancers from Friend Like Me in Aladdin. But I have to admit it is weird seeing them with those bodies.

Where's Peter Pan? And Snow White? And the Evil Queen's transformation? And why doesn't Mickey point on beat to the spurts of water and fireworks anymore? Overall, while a lot better in visual quality, it feels lacking. I'm all for substantial changes when they're good, but this wasn't altogether totally satisfying. =( I hope it gets updated and better with time and the transitions become smoother.

OMG! Thais was AWESOME! This third new version is a great up to date one. The new lighting, costumes, pyrotechnics, and slowed choreography for the floats and stage production is beautiful. I still miss the Ursula float from the 90's, but this is still spectacular. I can't wait to visit and see this again! I wonder what is going to happen in FL at WDW?
Michael Smith haha you can be sure they're going to adapt the same changes...but with more projections. They always wait to see what the other Disneys do and then copy them...or try to take them after they retire

Patrick Shields your joking right? The effects are a matter of opinion, but the rerecordings of the vocals and the music are horrendous compared to the originals. These new literally made me cringe because of how off key and how pitchy they were.

The Peter Pan music and choreography worked better as part of the whole. Captain Jack has been shoved into so many places he really doesn't belong for the better part of the last sixteen years. The Pirates movies have run their course.

Speaking from a musical standpoint, the vocals could have been better. The original princess scene was very melodic and smooth. This one was more raspy. Some parts sounded cut-and-pasted. The original jungle song was more intense and suspenseful, as music is intended to be.
Just cause people change overtime doesn't mean everything else has too
(They screwed up by getting rid of Peter Pan, the pink elephants, Snow White, etc)
The pirates segment is amazing.
