- Hello! Today we are plant shopping at The Home Depot. This location always has a really nice houseplant selection and I was finally able to see the large Alocasia Stingrays, they are so beautiful and unique!! They has a really nice selection of Calatheas as well!

I know, right!?! I couldn't believe it either!! So huge!! My plant skills are not up for that, I'm afraid! 😂I'd be so scared I'd kill it!
My two little purple passions died :( I think I bought 3 small ones last summer and all dead...I use to have a huge huge one 12 years ago that grew so well ...but when I moved 9 yrs ago that one did not like this house! I hope I see them around this spring because I am going to try again......trust me your normal if some of your plants are not doing well.....just making room for us for the plants that will do well! Hey Tina!! It's such a bummer when they die 😩Especially after 12 years, I bet it was so beautiful!! I've been watching mine like a hawk, he's totally one of my favorites and I really want him to live!! ha!! Thank you for making me feel better about my poor plants! those poor things!! And I can't keep a calathea alive in my house to save my life. We have to go to nurseries and pay triple the price for plants, it's so annoying but I do enjoy looking at the plants, may have to just take a road trip.

Alocasia's need a lot of heat, humidity and water (not tap) I use rain water with a well draining soil, rice hulls, pearlite, cocoquir, and charcoal for these.

@@MileHiHouseplantswithMarlena You can simply purchase a rain barrel and have it set up along with your house gutter system if you have one. I also use 5 gallon buckets I place them in a place where water runs off the roof, your shed roof if you have one, etc. Remember when purchasing a plant, think about where and how it grows and what conditions the soil, air, shade and humidity is. I hope this helps you and I will be subscribing to your channel, its wonderful!
I live in Cincinnati Ohio and every home depot and even most Lowes in our area completely SUCK with their selections and the size of the plant sections are no bigger than someone's living room and that is no joke, so I get very jealous and a bit angry when I see the selections at other states, we love plants in Ohio too.!!!

Cold damaged
Hi Kpope! That's what I was thinking! Its been so cold in Colorado for the past couple of weeks. I feel so bad for these plants just sitting in boxes in the warehouses! Poor things!😩Hope your day is amazing!
As much as I like the Alocasia sting ray, I wouldn't get this plant because Alocasias don't do very well for me.
