That’s what I was thinking the whole time. Seen them in ponds on golf courses in Florida and thought nope when I saw where he was going!
Usually sub-division ponds don't have gators, but If one managed to get into one, animal control or whatever they call it would get the gator out and re-home it.

I live in Florida the gators don't hybernate but they are not as aggressive in the winter as they are spring to fall

I think these treasure finding videos are dope
The find at 7:10 is a crayfish trap (or possibly a minnow trap, they are basically the same thing). You put some bread, food scraps or whatever inside for bait and the crayfish will walk up into the cones at the ends and drop in and get stuck. Used to use one of those at my great grandfather's pond all the time as a kid, they work pretty well. The yellow on the baits is likely just algae.

Ahaha sweet. If ever in NW Georgia check out the creeks in Dade Country. Used to have an old mill there on it and has had been a popular fishing and swimming hole for the locals.

Just a thought, you might want to ask what the pond was treated with before diving. Blue water can mean copper sulfate has been added to the water to keep it free of pond scum or algae. It is also poisonous. It can make you sick and in worst cases kill you if you spend too much time in the water with exposed skin. Golf courses use copper sulfate to keep their water hazards free of organics since they use nitrates and phosphorus on the turf.

I use minnow traps like that all the time! Put some bread inside and leave it for a bit and you’ll have tons of bait to use!
