Only commenting on a video that is 3 yrs old one could say I am a bit late to the party. But Pablo, I have to say I watch a lot of jewelry makers on YT, all the different ways guys use to make their items, the creative processes and working styles...but what sets you aside is, in your videos, not only are you showcasing making a beautiful piece, but you're in fact telling a story and that is what makes it brilliant. Great work, and I look forward to watching more of your videos....

And I watched 3 videos before I even realized you use a wheelchair which kinda goes to show being "able" is a state of mind, not body.

I don't know if this was just a movie or if this represents a real union, but I've always thought in the back of my mind, even since the first video I watched on this channel that this guy, his accent, his artistic abilities and technical skill, and of course his looks made him a serious, *SERIOUS* chick magnet. I know when my wife watches these videos over my shoulder she's never checking out what I am welding or working on out in the shop like she focuses on these videos.... 😍

I found your channel a few weeks ago and you inspired me to try my hand at becoming a bench jeweler. I just started my apprenticeship and I love it. So far I can make simple bands, resize rings, retip prongs with the laser welder, and resize watches and neclaces. Thank you for the cool videos!
Wait, you found this video 2 weeks ago, and in those 14 days, you decided to become a jeweler, found a place to start am apprenticeship, and have already started? That had to be a record for the fastest person to start a new career.
@@xenonram I didn't mean a couple as in two. It's been about a month since I started watching his videos. I've been a carpenter for 6 years and I'm familiar with hand tools and inlaying precious metals into pieces. I asked the local coin and pawn store if he knew of any local jewelers with apprenticeship/polishing positions. He gave me a list of places that did repair work for him, and luckily one of the shops gave me the opportunity to try a practice resizing of a ring. While my first ring wasn't perfect, he appreciated how observant and detail oriented I was, so he let me start a 90 day probationary apprenticeship with him. Like Pablo says, "If you can dream it, you can do it".
@@xenonram Doing any kind of craft is very rewarding. If you aren't already doing one as a hobby you should try. Woodworking and leatherwork are two of my favorites, but slightly expensive for certain materials and tools. Look around at local pawn shops and garage sales and I'm sure you could get started fairly quick.
@@dstnlockwood77 - For that I give you major props at adding repair and production skills in bench jewelry, in addition to everything else you have going on! It just adds different materials and adjusting the tools needed to work them! My grandfather had lapidary and goldsmith skills on his own, and ended with a considerable set of skills of his own, while his income was considerably boosted in the process. Part of it added diamond faceting skills that took him to the top rung, including private diamond production work for Harry Winston in the 1960's. It's amazing what you can add to your life, if you try. His goldsmith work was equally high quality, and he had considerable reputation with everyone who knew him, or learned of it from others who did.
It takes time to develop similar skills, and I think, from what you have told us about your rapid growth to date, you should do very well.
My favorite kind of rings are plain, highly polished wedding bands. Some I like with milgrain edges, but with the domed polish centers. Thick, heavy, weighty bands, but narrow in width, from 2.5mm to 3.5mm wide, and at least 1.8mm thick, but more like 2.0mm thick! I have never liked the thin, flat, cheap "tinny" type of bands that have no good wearable characteristics, and won't wear for many years. The beautiful platinum bands Pablo made in this video are perfect, but platinum is a more pricey than I could manage. Especially as I collect rings, and have been over the last 25 years! I have a large collection, in a two-level ring box. I have other types as well, but the bands are the majority. Perhaps one day, I would be able to add a band or two from your own production! Pablo's are also of course a significant hope of my own in the future! Best wishes to your new future vocation!
(Apologize with my awkward grammar skills right now. I am battling against a stroke recently - exactly one month today - and my own intellectual skills are not what they used to be. I am working hard to return to where I used to be. I hope you can understand what I mean.)
I don't always make platinum rings out of raw metal, but when I do there's a wood elf in the bubble bath waiting for me to finish...

I work with my dad in a jewelry shop and I have seen Goldsmiths work with almost all the tools he shows in the videos. The amount of work out into shooting all these insert shots for something so intricate and complex is insane.
