- On Saturday and Sunday, September 15 and 16, 2018, for the first time since 2014, Railroad Days was held at the White Mountain Central Railroad and Clark's Trading Post. This year's event was a special one, celebrating 90 years of Clark's Trading Post, 60 years of the White Mountain Central Railroad, and Honoring Dave Clark for all he has done for the Railroad. The staff at Clark's Trading Post put forth a tremendous effort to get their already beautiful equipment in better condition than ever before and succeeded in holding a wonderful event. Featured in this video are a 1920 Climax geared locomotive, a 1930 Porter 0-4-0T, and a 1906 Baldwin 2-4-2T under steam, a 1929 REO Railbus, a 1943 GE 65 Ton Switcher, and freshly cosmetically restored Heisler and Shay locomotives. This is an impressive collection of locomotives and was a spectacular event all around. If you are ever in the area of Lincoln New Hampshire, Go to Clark's Trading Post! You will not be disappointed.
Whelp, I thought Railroad Days would return last year for the Railroad’s 65th Anniversary but sadly never happened… 😢
I was there Sunday!
Nice! Hope you had as good a time as I did!
How come the Heisler and Shay were not under Steam? The only engine that was under steam was the climax out of the three geared locomotives at the White Mountain Railroad
The Heisler Ran until 2008, but the boiler was then found to be too thin to operate. It is too light to handle the excursion train by itself, so it didn't justify the cost of a boiler replacement. They Shay is unrestored and hasn't run since the 50s. They did just cosmetically restore it this year, but operational restoration would be very expensive. Thanks for watching!
@@trainern8 I gotcha well at least they have three examples of the geared type locomotives all together it would be great if the Shay and Heisler operational but like you said it's not in their budget right now
trainern8 will they have railroad days next year with all of these engines? Also in my opinion I think these locomotives should run every day instead of just railroad day! Do u agree with me?!
@@Acermani456 I think due to costs they only run them on Railfan Weekend.
@@TexasRailfan21-RailfanRyan I hear they are getting the Heisler’s boiler work done at Boothbay for the 100th anniversary of Clark’s (and 70th of White Mountain Central)
Do they still do this?
It used to be annual and it isn't anymore, but I would bet that it will still happen from time to time The last time they did it was 2018 for the anniversary of the railroad. The next time there is a big anniversary I think it'll probably happen again.
I literally saw myself in a brief second! 14:46
Haha nice!
Why does 1943 NEVER use it's s5t?
My guess would be that it's too loud for the people in the park. I would love to hear it!
trainern8 I think Andrew Wilson is making a video of it tonight, as he said he has heard it and recorded it.
@@coasternamegenerator5611 oh perfect!
trainern8 just heard his clip, and it's okay. It does sound like a 5t, but it's squeaky.
@@trainern8czcams.com/video/dlhydxLs0gY/video.html it's up.
