Thanks. I wasn't sure about the spring catch since my damn $50 book doesn't cover it! Lol.

You are great at this! Good clear explanation, easy to follow. If I send you a list of stuff I need to fix, can you make instructional videos for me? ;) Just joking.

I enjoyed restoring an '87 KDX a while back. Unfortunately it is now so pretty I don't use it for fear of dirtying it up. :) I know of someone who is about to start with an '88 model and one thing his bike has is a 'slipping ?' kickstarter and that is how I found your article. They are nice bikes these! My usual, occasional use bike is an '83 XR500 Honda, so you can see why the KDX seems so nimble and user friendly to me.

Very helpful. Thanks. I do have a question. I tried to install the return spring on my KDX200 kickstart, but the tang doesn't fit in the case hole nice and snug. Just the tip of it is in there, and it doesn't stay in place when I try to operate the kickstart. Do you think I'm installing it incorrectly, or maybe a part is worn or missing? Thanks !

Hello, I'm sorry for not seeing this earlier.... I'm sure you've figured it out by now, but I imagine it isn't installed deep enough or perhaps the spring is broken? The tang was pretty long on mine, but required some jiggling to fit it correctly. Good luck and sorry I missed you. Thanks for watching.
