Quel enchantement!! On peut apprécier la musique pop, rock et bien d'autres, mais il ne faut jamais oublier nos racines. Et cette merveilleuse interprétation est un ravissement. Bravo à ces musiciens tchèques de nous faire revivre cette musique.

Les Rémois de l'époque s' amusèrent, dit-on, que ce pieux chanoine se mette, à 60 ans passés, à composer des chansons courtoises pour une certaine Péronnelle d'Armentières , âgée de 16 ans : " le cœur n'a pas de rides" et la musique de Machaut non plus !

@@rogueriderhood1862Well, I wasn't around in medieval France (shocking, I know), but historians tell us a thing or two. Of course there were not one and only "Medieval french", there was disparities among regions for instance. But word on the cobblestone streets is that those old-timey French speakers loved to roll their 'R's and weren't fans of silent letters, just like our Elthin bards are doing on this video!

私は現代楽器のチェロで『ラ・フォリア』を踊る人達の伴奏を弾く機会がありました。でも当時デブ過ぎて素敵な衣装を着ることが出来ず、先ず最初にこんな格好で演奏してみたいと思いました。
古楽は楽器の音色が魅力的ですね。憧れます。でも同時に日本の雅楽も憧れです。巫女舞とか、５０年遡れたら、習いに行ってたかも。

Si javais un quelconque pouvoir, je vous aurais faits membres honoraires de la Francophonie... mais je ne suis malheureusement qu'un simple Français lambda! Sachez que nos propres "artistes" n'en font pas autant que vous pour rendre hommage a l'énorme patrimoine médiéval de mon beau pays (sauf quelques trop rares exceptions). Nous n’avons pas ( plus) d’artistes en France,d’artistes ils n’ont que la dénomination rien de plus,mais le plus triste aucun ( je dis bien aucun) n’est prêt ou capable de faire l’effort pour ne pas laisser le patrimoine partir en quenouille à par ce faire prendre en photos le plus grave c’est que des gens votent…….encore!!!( l’état est notre serviteur et nous n’avons pas à en être les esclaves, mais maintenant c’est l’inverse ,hélas !!).

I've been listening to and performing Early Music by the likes of Guillaume de Machaut since the mid 1970s. Perhaps the seminal recording from those days was the Grammy Award winning "The Art Of Courtly Love" by David Munrow and his Early Music Consort of London. I believe there were a number of songs by Machaut on that record.
Your cover is very lively, the Gaida sound fantastic and mercifully in tune! ;) I'm glad to see these traditions are still being explored, and that Medieval and Renaissance music is still a living tradition in the world.

Guillaume de Machaut has always been one of my favorite songwriters of the era, almost the equal of Walther von der Vogelweide. This is a very, very good rendition.

@@diegocollatti No 😄 Rock comes from Blues/Jazz which come from African music. Pop melted late classical music (lieder etc.) to rock so it kinda contains a little bit of this (at least it is tonal, early rock'n'roll uses almost only pentatonic which is more an eastern/southern thing.
