24FEB2020 - I can't be the only person to notice that when taxiing, the pilot's head turns when the plane does. Cool detail.
Das ist wirklich ein Traum von einer Maschine. So unglaublich schön gebaut mit einem schönen Moki 400. und auch humorvol, weil der Pilot eine Zigarette raucht und ein gleichgültiges Aussehen hat. Mein Kompliment!

Must have missed this last year - wow, 400cc motor ........ probably a lot of drag though - ''chunky'' design and short tail moment too. Good scale speed flying as well as high speed. Great to watch... perfect landing.

It's great to see a beautiful scale model being flown at scale speeds for a change! Short coupling reminds of the Granville Gee Bee Z. Nice reaction @ 6:03 to avoid a brake induced nose over!

Die Überraschung ist dem Rolf gelungen. Endlich konnte er dieses wunderschöne Modell mit nach Oberhausen bringen. Dass er es so schön geflogen hatte, war beim Filmen natürlich von Vorteil.

Rolf did a great job on building this huge model. The 400cc Moki looks even small inside the giant fuselage ;)
The scale flight made it easy to follow the plane with the camera and therefore the editing was easy.
I would like to see a Rc plane with a shaking V2 Harley engine. That would be awesome.

No problem! You deserve it. The more I look the more detail I see, I love the moving pilot with his cigarette, and obviously a lot of research went into this. You can see the covering is fabric or film over ribs or framing, the paint work is details, and I keep seeing more and more like the extra details on the main landing gear, the exhaust - even the recesses in the cowl for the exhaust pipes is great detail and obviously a lot of work. The standard of large historical scale models is very high these days but this is exceptional. Is there a build log or supporting site for this project? I'd love to see any information about the build. I build my own RC models too, but they're just standard hobby models, nothing like this! I only wish I had the resources and facilities, I would love nothing better than to make something this nice.

I certainly did enjoy the FW-190, it too was amazing! I can't believe the detail involved. If I hadn't seen the pilot standing by it I would never have realised it was a model. You clearly do some impressive work! I hope one day to be able to work on projects like this, though I don't know if I will challenge these results! Thanks for showing me and I will join that site. The building period was from January 2012 to July 2014 (2 1/2 years) but the time to build was around 500 hours.
Blimey that's not far off the incredible sound of the full size ones 👍

It seems that the pilot's head is linked to the rudder servo as it turns accordingly. Very neat idea !! Nice model, great flying .
That's a big (expensive) motor! probably needs it with that high drag profile:)

Thx for the extra info Horst -- my, that is one great set of pics and an amazing build. Landing gear and retracts look complicated and probably add quite a bit of weight. Love the pilot!:)

Ich bin nur der Mann hinter der Kamera, fliege aber selbst auch RC Modelle.
Soviel ich von den Besitzern einer I-16 gehört habe, fliegt sie recht gut wenn der Schwerpunkt stimmt. Starten und Landen ist aufgrund der kompakten Länge des Fliegers nicht so einfach wie es im Video aussieht. Es gehört schon eine Menge Erfahrung dazu.

The I-16 and its older sister I-153 are the cutest little midget fighters ever. but do not underestimate them by their size, because they pack some firepower

It is so realistic, it looks like a real thing! I wish modern films were made with models like these and not computer animation. This reminds me "Das Boot" models, very convincing! Even the sound is perfect.
