      Parody would have been if Moore was making fun of or mocking them.. that's what parody is
      an imitation of the style of a particular writer, artist, or genre with deliberate exaggeration for comic effect.

    i truly loved the depiction of The Question from Justice League Unlimited: He feels like the embodiment of chaotic good, he always works hard to do the right thing, but goes at a very round-about way to achieve it, but his plans almost always work cuz he knows that it will, whether its helping his crush confront the person who murdered her parents to teach her about the difference between justice and vengeance, or breaking into a building, not by sneaking in but by smashing the window and casually walking in cuz the security wont interfere in time. One option might work is to take an inspiration from Columbo. What might not be remembered is that Columbo started out as one part of a series called "The NBC Mystery Movies." Each week, one of the three series would appear in the slot. The other series were "McCloud" and "McMillan and Wife." Each would appear in a 90 minute TV movie.
      DC could do the same thing, having an umbrella title like "The DC Superhero Movies." Each week features 90-minute mini movie that features one DC character or group. While some characters/groups like The Question, The Martian Manhunter, The Metal Men, and Captain Atom might not be popular enough to support an on-going series, they could support an occasional mini-movie. In turn, characters that are found to be extremely popular could be spun off into a TV series or a theatrical feature.

    • @Solitaire001
      @Solitaire001 Před 26 dny +4

      To add to my previous post:
      They could even feature some unusual characters such as Angel & The Ape, ones I'd like to see (possibly as a team up with Detective Chimp).
      Angel O'Day is a top athlete, marksman, and detective. However, she feels like she is a disappointment because she feels that she doesn't measure up to her family. That's because her father is a archeologist, her stepmother and stepsister are superheroes, and her adopted brother is a gorilla (see below). Angel thinks her family is normal.
      The Ape is Sam Simeon, a gorilla from Gorilla City (the city appeared in "The Flash") who is a professional comic book artist. Sam is the grandson of Gorilla Grodd and has a variation of Grodd's telepathic powers. He uses them to cause people not to notice that he's a gorilla so he can function in human society (he causes people to think that he's just an unusual-looking human). He left Gorilla City and was adopted into Angel's family (they know he's a gorilla).

The biggest moment that comes to mind for me personally is how due to him having thought he had Luthor's plot figured out, he was ready to murder Luthor in cold blood so the Justice League wouldn't have to, and in turn saving their reputation while it was just the whack job conspiracy theorist who committed murder. Something about that feels like a perfect show of what kind of person he actually is. Hes not a normal person who, through a freak accident, gains incredible powers.
    He's not somebody born with incredible gifts who is ostracized by society who needs to learn to control their powers/mutation/magic
    Hes not even a billionare with an unlimited budget
    Hes just an angry dude in a mask. Not the sane, borning, normal peter parker/clark kent type person. He's angry, belligerent, but still tries to do the right thing even if its not for the right reasons.

On society, on human nature, on strength of character and the breadth of human experiences. One that doesn't end with a conclusion or answer but an affirmation of justice, integrity and struggles. It doesn't show you a marble statuesque vision of ultimate integrity and strength like Batman, but rather affirms that the pursuit of justice and the resistance against evil is worth it in and of itself.

    The passing of the mantle from Vic to Reneé is in the limited series 52, right after Infinite Crisis. This was between 4 to 5 years before Flashpoint and the New 52. Rick Veitch's miniseries was basically forgotten and Question's powers never came back. Great video!

    About 60% the title, the other 40% because you're good at summarizing comic book turbo nerd things. In fact, you're the only person who does this type of thing that I listen to, now. For a good long while now. I guess we share similar opinions on what makes for interesting stories. You might have even gotten me to pick up a few comics to read myself, I believe

    @0:36 I disagree, because Rorschach isn't simply a copy of The Question. Rather, both The Question and Rorschach are copies of Mr. A. And, Moore created Rorschach to dunk more on the philosophy extolled in Mr. A. than of anything from The Question.

    • @RoBoDaN91
      @RoBoDaN91 Před 20 dny +2

      I'd never heard of Mr. A. before, I looked home up and both he and the Question are created by Ditko, so it's funny seeing the Question comparing himself to Rorschach which was a parody of Ditko's earlier masked detective.

    Something to mention: The Question didn't become a black lantern immediately after the end of his series. Due to the "Blackest Night" Event, DC revived a number of their cancelled series for one issue, continuing the numbering of the original series, with "The Question" returning in issue #37. The issue featured Vic Sage as Black Lantern Question, Renee Montoya as the current Question, Lady Shiva, and Doctor Rodor. In order to escape Sage, they had to completely shut down their emotions to make themselves invisible to Sage. Like all Black Lanterns, Sage can only see emotions coming off of people (as colors of the spectrum), not the people themselves.

    Only little quibble is that it's Lady Shiva, not Batman, who rescues Question and sends him to Richard Dragon. She's a pretty important character to his development for how little she appears!

    In the face of the Dawn of DC reboot and the current Absolute Power run, DC has a really good opportunity to bring back the Question and give him a pivotal role. He can probably move and investigate where Batman cannot, because of Batman’s popularity. When you think of a combatant and a detective, or one you wanna ask or enlist for help, the first person you think of is Batman and Dick Grayson or Tim Drake second. But the Question can probably get it done, too. And he’s someone you can easily underestimate, but in a way that means you probably shouldn’t.

    I f$ck I loved this video! The Questions’ always been one of my favorite characters due to his how he’s written and seen amongst the DC superhero community. Granted that’s based solely based off his Justice League | UNLIMITED version- and I think it’s sick! It’s so dope to know that he’s cool not just to me, but to other people. I honestly think he could’ve played a role in DCs ‘The Human Target’ somehow too, more so in solving the mystery of the book. Sht, I don’t see why he doesn’t have his own book now, it’d be the perfect time. It could serve as a meta book regarding current events too! DC gotta lock in.
