They haven't betrayed orthodoxy at all. Jesus mandated spreading and speaking with embers of other faiths to lead them to truth. They have never compromised their faith even at the world counsel of churches they have issued a explicit position of non compromise. Pews are not traditional I agree, but they do not decrease the religious zeal of the faithful. Don't strain the gnat and swallow the camel.
