No matter what happen, I'm still happy that Jung Hwan was able to properly confess to deok sun until the end. Even if he declared that it's a joke for his friends, Deok sun knows it's real. She was just shocked that Jung Hwan admitted that he liked her for real because that's what she's been waiting for before. Both of them knows that they will never be together as lovers when that confession happened. That confession is like the acknowledgement of what happen between them. That they really had something. It is also the closure for both of them. They already grow as a different individuals with different priorities and maturity hits them too. I believe that Jung Hwan's confession protected their friendships. If he didn't said that it's a joke, imagine that 2 of their friends will feel awkward and being torn and that they will blamed theirselves cause they were insensitive of Jung Hwan's feelings. Deok Sun can't treat Jung Hwan as her real friend just like before she will feel guilty for being happy with Taek. That's why the confession scene is one of the best thing that ever happened in the drama. I cried with happy tears cause Jung hwan can finally forgive himself and move on. I'm team Jung Hwan forever. Just my opinion.

I think it is taek that deoksun loves from the start, she just didn't realize it. It is why she couldn't sleep when her date with taek was cancelled. It is also why taek is always in her mind even though no one told her that he likes her. Junghwan knew it, so when he confessed, he said to their friends that it was only a joke as a sign that he already gave up on her. But I think deoksun knew that he really meant it.

I rewatched Reply 1988 for the millionth time today and honestly, Jongpal could have had Deokson but he was always second guessing himself too much. At one point, even Taek gave up on her because he wanted Jongpal to go for her, but what did Jongpal do? Nothing 😓💔 He took too long to finally man up, and when he finally did, Taek already shoot his shot. He didn't hesitate.
So how am i supposed to move on from the heartbreak this drama has caused me?? 😭💔 The realization he had when timing was not a coincidence but something created through one’s own actions and simple decisions of not hesitating and taking risks. The way Junghwan confessed was so sweet & sincere but heartbreaking at the same time. He even pretended it was just a prank in the end so it wouldn’t hinder with DeokSun and Taek’s relationship and not make things awkward for all of them. He knew that he had to let her go because it’s already too late 💔
It's the first kdrama I watch, and I can't get over.. It's 2023 and I come here and cry.. I am sad for Jung-hwan, not because they were not together, but because he never confessed his feelings, nor to his best friend, he just walked away and hid his feelings, the director neglected his character and didn't even put an end worthy of him, I grieve for these sincere feelings of love, I feel sad for all the Jong-hwan in our world, they are many around us but we do not notice them.
