It's a little impressionistic, I'll admit, but it was a lot of fun to create. The "blood" is just a big gulp of seawater mixed with some red food colouring, don't worry.
The mermaid tail was designed and created by me, Stella the Siren, and inspired by a goldfish or a koi fish. It is made from orange lycra and black, white and orange organza flukes. I'm wearing a Finis Rapid Monofin.
Music: "Suijin", composed and performed by Milan Faas.
Cameramen: Karl Raywood, professional underwater photographer based in Malta, and my very own Erik.

"How do you hold your breath for so long?"
I have a certificate in freediving and I train regularly. That being said, the video is edited together to make it look like I never come back up.
"Does the water hurt your eyes?"
No, not really - but it does hurt my nose, so I'm wearing internal noseplugs.
"Where did you get that tail?"
I made it myself! It's not hard - there are plenty of tutorials online! ^^ - Zábava

Not really, the mermaids in Potc have longer tails, longer than average human legs plus theyre really simple not like tge tail showcased in this video(dont get me wrong irs absolutely stunning) and they dont really have articulations where the knees would go.
She's so amazing. The way she swims alone is so elegant and enchanting. Amazing really ❤

Well, what's not to love about this video - a compelling story, beautifully performed, filmed and edited. I was initially taken aback by the intensity of the first portion but it's still incredibly well-done. That goldfish tail is a gem, Stella, and it suits you so well. And please tell Milan that "Suijin" is an incredible piece of music - haunting, evocative, intoxicating. I know this one goes back a few years but it's still amazing. Thanks to everyone who helped to put it together.

I'm working on a tutorial on my website www.stellathesiren.com. For this tail, I have used: swimsuit lycra, organza, spraypaint in black and white (supposedly waterproof - it comes off easily, but I don't mind, makes it look kind of weathered) and an elastic band for the waist. Regular thread is fine, be sure to use a needle that is suited for stretchy fabric.

Once there was a woman, Arista, healthy,
Living in a cottage on the coast, alone;
A young man found her and courting did he,
Month after month the man loved much, as shown.
One day, after years and years of courting,
He arrived at her door dressed in waiting.
But Arista was outside, enjoying ocean breeze,
Her soul was cleansed when she was with the sea.

Next morning, he met Arista at the door,
Took her hand suddenly and said, “Marry me!”
Arista replied saying, “Let me think furthermore,”
The woman led and out the door went he.

Her soul was cleansed when she was with the sea.

Plunging down to a watery grave;
Hitting the water in one swimming feat,

She was pulled with the tide, into the ocean breeze,
Her body was pulled, in motion with the sea.

Arista’s body began to change.
To her legs she looked but they did not stay,
But a powerful tail instead there laid.

But Mermaid Arista jumped up before.

But Arista jumped once more, to enjoy the ocean breeze,
Her soul was cleansed when she was with the sea.

Looking up at her home on the shore,
But, just as Hans Christian Anderson said:
“A mermaid has no tears, therefore she suffers
Much more,” Arista enjoys much in her play,
But never forgets that miraculous day.

For her soul is cleansed when she is with the sea.

Ellie Jones It's the ocean, so of course there are sharks. She probably doesn't swim too far out, though. She also had professional scuba divers around her to help if anything like that happened.
