On the strip, it takes 10 minutes to walk from one property to another. On Fremont, you get all the action packed into a 10 minute walk. The canopy shades the sun too.

Yup! We love downtown during the day because of the canopy and like you mentioned, it so easy (and fun) to pop into all of the properties.

Last time I visited downtown I went to 8 East for a fantastic lunch, brisket fried rice didn’t disappoint.
Unfortunately when I walked Fremont during the day it’s obviously less crowded. All the homeless and derelicts are out in the open.
Usually spend one night downtown, but I found it so depressing I didn’t return.

I went to Vegas for the first time last month, and I don't know if it's because I live in a metro area that has a population twice as large as the entire state of Nevada or what, but I never felt like it was really all that crowded, dirty, or dangerous--no matter where I went. Granted, I didn't go looking for trouble or anything, but there was always a large police and security presence if I was even remotely close to any sort of attraction, including all parts of the strip and Fremont St. In fact, I'd like to stay downtown the next time I go!

Downtown dirty wow I can't believe you said that. I roam around very late at night and every morning around 3am big Street sweepers come through a few even use hand mops from one end to the other of the Experience canopy. One morning walking the Cortez I saw staff sweeping and picking up outside around the entrance and sidewalk. I have stayed on DTLAS since the early 2000s and the metamorphosis is staggering for the better. I sometimes use scooter people are akways kind and helpful though a bit aloof but hey thier having fun too. The homeless are not a worry I ever have had maybe once one was kinda bugging me inside Binions but a watchful staff member saw me give them a look returned with security. I love it downtown and if you get to know each hotel you can go swim at Circa Circa it's huge get your hair and nails done at The Plaza a Barbershop is at Cortez, Circa and Golden Nugget do have a few spa like offerings. The art district has cool shops and boutiques created by locals. The fashion Mall is easy to get a ride to by bus or uber.

Excited to go to Fremont East and Arts District for the first time. Arriving on a Saturday I expect it to be crazy busy. So I definitely agree about crowding in small spaces. Watch your wallets and purses.
For 11:00 homelessness and Street People I actually find more on the strip. Granted during 2022 when 3rd St Pedestrian area was under construction it was a bit shady there. Lots of Street people would camp out around the barricades and bother people.
Now it's well lit and feels safe.

Another pro for shoppers is that staying at the FSE means that you are 10-15 minutes away (even less if you take the free Downtown Loop shuttle) from Las Vegas Premium Outlets North which is the largest outlet mall in the area with a much better selection of stores & better deals than Premium Outlets South. However a con with this outlet mall is that it is outside meaning it can be unbearable to shop there during the summer months despite the best efforts of management to install misters & cooling stations.

@@NinthIslandConnection yes I have & it usually takes 5-10 minutes to reach the outlet mall depending on which FSE hotel you are coming from & how many stops it has to make. When I took it, it picked me up from The D & it took 10 minutes to reach the outlet mall which was an added plus because coming back from the outlet, I had 4 very heavy bags filled with the items I bought from the various stores & I did not want to carry those bags while walking from from the outlet mall back to The D. It was also quite windy & cold that day (I visited in mid January 2022 when I took the Loop shuttle) which was another reason why I didn't want to walk.

I have always have more fun in downtown LV. The casino's themselves all have pretty much the same slots and table games, the only real difference is the neon signs on the buildings..the restaurants tend to be better quality wise, room rates are still reasonable by LV standards, everything is in easy walking distance if you are in reasonably good shape,,
Stay away from the McDs,,,you did NOT travel all the way to LV, to eat at a place you most likely did not have to leave your hometown to eat at,,,same for Subway, ect ect
My own favorite downtown hotel is 4Queens,it is good basic hotel/casino and it is right in the middle of everything!
Don't worry about street noise,,it quiets down around 1AM,,if you are trying to get to sleep before 1AM you are doing LV wrong LOL

The bars - especially the ones out on the Fremont Street Experience - are a negative, not a feature. Used to like visiting Downtown, but I haven’t gone in years. Too many drunks, druggies, thieves and potential for violence. The concerts are too loud, the crowds annoying. Most of the casinos (Circa is an exception) are smaller, with low roofs, slots tightly packed and an overwhelming smell from cigarette smoke. Seeing pictures of parents walking small children through the Experience late at night makes me sad. The cheaper hotel rooms aren’t worth staying there, especially since TI, Luxor and Excalibur are comparably priced. The Strip has its problems, but I’m comfortable with the areas from NY-NY to Bellagio and Venetian to Wynn.

I have lived here for 25 years and I can tell you that it started changing in 2020. It’s definitely one of the safest cities in the country but it’s not what it was. In fact, a Henderson is the second safest city in the country when I would travel for work I couldn’t wait to come back because you don’t have homeless people laying around with needles in their arm at your local. grocery store, you don’t have everything chained up, you don’t have graffiti everywhere, and the parks are beautiful,

I have been going to Vegas for 35 years and Fremont was cool until they put that canopy up. Now it is just a crowded mess with homeless, the freaks in the circles and all the other trash. Its just a carnival with lots of clownish behavior. It also use to be the place for cheap rooms and gaming and food but clowns like Derek Stevens are bringing strip prices to downtown.

Hi Dan, Thanks for watching and sharing your experience with us all, we appreciate you! I never had the chance to experience that Vegas, but wish I had. I love taking to people that have experienced "old" Vegas, such great stories! We are having a lot of fun exploring the Arts District and lots of off strip places. Thanks again! Sebastian

I think because Derek put that casino in and then all the sudden the pandemic came up I think he's in a red he's got at least three properties down there.

As a flight attendant years ago, the only fun I ever had in Vegas was going out to Lake Mead & renting a boat w/ the rest of the crew. That was when the water levels were much higher, long before they started finding mob victims in barrels, of course.
Icky town built by mobsters, to fleece the simple people. Nothing's changed, in that respect. My deepest condolences to anyone who has to actually live there.

MANY YEARS AGO, I QUIT STAYING ON THE STRIP AND STAY ONLY AT THE FOUR QUEENS IN DOWNTOWN LAS VEGAS I STAY IN THE SOUTH TOWER FACING AWAY FROM THE CANOPY FOR LESS NOISE. NOTHING FANCY AND IT TOOK ME A TRIP OR TWO TO GET USED TO A BASIC ROOM SINCE I WAS A SUITE STAYING GUY IN THE STRIP. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THE STRIP MESS. I WILL NOT STAY DOWNTOWN WITH THE WIFE AND KID BUT THERE ARE SOOO MANY RESORTS ON THE STRIP I WOULD AVOID WITH THEM AS WELL. FOR ME, DOWNTOWN IS AWESOME.
I LOVE THE DOWNTOWN MORNINGS AND MID DAY UNDER THE CANOPY. NOT MANY PEOPLE, QUIET MUSIC AND RELAXING TO JUST WALK AND WATCH THE GUYS CLEAN THE FLOORS AND VENDORS SETTING UP THE RETAIL AREAS. THE FRIDAYS AND SATURDAY NIGHTS CAN BE HORRIBLY BUSY LIKE THE STRIP. TOO LOUD AND TOO MANY PEOPLE FOR ME. I STICK TO MY BARTOP VIDEO POKER AT THE FOUR QUEENS AND DON’T GO OUT MUCH THOSE NIGHTS. I TRY TO STAY SUNDAY- THURSDAY WHEN I GO TO LAS VEGAS ANYWAY TO SEE THE FOOTBALL GAMES AND AVOID SOME OF THE MASSES.
ON THE STRIP, THE AREA FROM COKE WORLD DOWN TO THE HORSESHOE CAN BE SOOO SCUZZY WITH DOPE SMOKERS, HOMELESS, SHOWGIRLS AND GUYS LOOKING FOR PICTURES, TRASH ALL OVER, PORN CARD GUYS, SCAMMERS SELLING CD’S, CLUB SCAMMERS, BIKE RIDERS, THE FOOD PRICES ARE ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE ON THE STRIP, TABLE GAMES ARE TOO HIGH, TOO CROWDED, HARD TO GET INTO MANY RESTAURANTS, A LONG WALK BETWEEN HOTELS, THERE IS A HIGHER DRUNK AND IDIOT FACTOR ON THE STRIP, STRIP HAS MANY VEGAS NEWBEES THAT ARE WAY OUT OF THEIR ELEMENT AND ACT LIKE DRUNKEN JERKS, HORRIBLE HOTEL PRICES, $20.00 A DAY TO PARK AND YOU STILL HAVE A HELL OF A WALK TO THE PARKING GARAGE, RESORT FEES CAN BE OVER $45.00 A DAY, TIGHT MACHINES ETC… I GET COMPED AT ALL MGM & CAESARS PROPERTIES WITH FREE PLAY AND FOOD AND BEVERAGE CREDIT AND STILL TAKE MY COMPS FROM DOWNTOWN INSTEAD. I WILL USE THOSE STRIP COMPS AT SOME POINT BUT WILL STILL GAMBLE DOWNTOWN ON THOSE TRIPS SINCE I DON’T WANT TO CONTINUE THOSE CONNECTIONS. I STILL LOVE WALKING THE STRIP IN THE EVENING AT DUSK WHEN THE LIGHTS ARE COMING ON…SOOO COOL TO SEE.

Hi Da Bears, Thank you for watching and sharing your experience with everyone, we appreciate you! Totally agree with you on the strip, it so much more crowded these days and don't get me started on the CD guys, they are the absolute worst. The people taking pictures and other hustlers are doing their job, trying to make a buck, but the others are so aggressive and try to pressure you. I like downtown for gambling too! The table minimus are lower and it feels like more of a chill vibe than the strip. Also really like the food options and prices downtown!
