Follow Nicole as she builds a swimming pool in her backyard. Episode 11.
The handywoman lives in the Netherlands, in Amsterdam-Duivendrecht.
In this episode Nicole installs the pool pump and filter. A Mega Sand Filter Set FSF 350. That is a sand filter and swimming pool pump in one.
But first she builds a cabin for the pump, a pool house, from an old fence.

Hi Nicole, very impressive job you've done. I'm trying to build the same pool like yours. Just wanted to ask you about the pump and the filter location. I think the pump you're using is for on ground pool, since your pool is below the level of that pump how well is the system working. Isn't the pump overheating? Thank you in advance for your answer

Great videos, just a question. Did you have any problems with your pump and filter? as I can see it’s a below ground pool & I wanted to purchase similar to yours but have been told it’s an above ground pump. Any advice would be appreciated. Have a great Christmas from the uk 👍
Dear Ad, thank you! This pump is for in-ground swimming pools and it works fine (after 3 years). The pump is not a real strong one, but our swiming pool is small (6,000 liters) and the distance from skimmer to pump is around 3 meters. We need to back wash once every one or two weeks during summer.

Hi Nicole, now- some years ago - any problems with the cement-based stucco mortar and/ore the chlorinated rubber paint because of frost in winter/frost damage? THX
No, not really. Concrete is still fine. The paint we have to do again every year or two (bit annoying) and we have some small amount of tiny blisters in the paint at the top (just under the tiles). When doing the paint again I sand them and paint over them. However it shows that the rubber paint was not fully waterproof. But only very few spots, nothing big.
Is she like a general contractor? She can do it all !

What kind of pool pump did you wind up using? I saw your videos, and our above ground pool that we bought went to garbage last year. It cost us a ridiculous $2k for the original junky one. We're thinking (I am, my husband says it's "my project"), of recreating what you did but for above ground. I've been trying to figure out the pump. Any suggestions would be really helpful.
I bought a 'Mega Pool FSF 350' 4m3/hour sand filter pump. It is a small sandfilter pump and works for ingroud and above ground pools. It still works perfect. It was around 350 Euro's. As the water does not need to be pumped up with an above ground pool, I think you could also opt for a cheaper version. Good luck with ýour project'! I guess you are not next door, otherwise I'd give you a hand 😉.

At a store in the Netherlands. There are many suppliers for this type of small pump as it is often used for above ground pools as well.
