There was a time I would only pick Teemo vs any Riven player, and would play EXTREMELY passive. If there is one thing in common for every Riven player is that they WANT-THAT-KILL so bad they wil always missplay for it. They never play to farm, they play to kil.
This is why I don't mind laning vs Assassins in mid

riven players want that kill so bad because if riven is a little behind or even equal, it's usually gonna be extra hard to win the match
cuz riven mains are braindead players who thinking winning lane = winning game
It's more-so about the fact that Riven players want the enemy top laner to be behind, not that they necessarily want kills. A great way to put the enemy at a disadvantage is to kill them. It's not always necessary to kill the enemy to put them behind, but as someone else in the replies said, being equal or a little behind makes it harder for Riven to win the match.
Basically yes, playing passive Teemo against Riven will put YOU at the advantage instead. I mean, if you look at Brian's farm at 20 mins, he's not doing very well in terms of income. If he had 10 CS/min, he'd have more items, and he would be even further ahead! He should have been more passive vs that Riven and he would've died less, but thankfully the rest of his team was good enough to help him carry them back in the late game. If his team weren't so good, he'd have a hard time catching up.

@@lucykitsune4619 Exactly! If he saved that flash to be used defensively, he would've been able to escape the Sejuani. But instead he greeded for Ezreal because he couldn't be bothered to WAIT for Ezreal to make another misstep (which he undoubtedly would've done, considering he walked up to a Teemo in the first place). The most rewarding kills, imo, aren't the ones you try to get; they're the ones that come TO you.

3:14 I believe you played it well. If you would have blinded riven, seju would stack her passive sooner and stun you resulting in your death without the exchange of kills or in a best case scenario kill on riven. Doing this was safer option imo.
the rivens autos stack the passive as well i believe, but your point still stands since if shes dead she cant stun

Riven is ok, but that's only because she received the Aphelios treatment, by which i mean Riot nerfed her numbers to an ok point while keeping her natural insane snowball potential, but this is turned down by the high skill ceiling that Riven demands to be mastered at a mechanical level.
