    My son and I went to see them live in a town near us. They were amazing. Adam Rupp the beatboxer does use a looper to be able to do all of the parts, however, they are actually him doing the parts. When Tim the bass goes low the place just rumbles like an earthquake. If you get a chance to see them live it will be well worth it for you. They also have Home Free History on CZcams. There are 7 parts to it and it explains the trials they went through to get where they are today. Very interesting to watch these videos.

    Check out Austin & Rob singing opera! Rob studied opera in college & had not sung it in over 15 years. Austin has a degree in musical theater & studied some opera too. Austin talked Rob into doing the video to show off his “hidden talent”. They sing “Nessun Dorma” and you can find the video on Austin Brown’s CZcams channel along with some other covers he’s done & some of his own original songs. Please take a look! You’ll be impressed, I’m sure!

    There are several live videos from shows of them doing this song, you can find one on YT and see how they do it. They are as amazing as when they do the songs in the studio. I've been to at least 2 to 3 of their shows every year since 2016 and I do it because they put together such an amazing show and are so talented. I definitely recommend going to a show if they come near you, which they will, just keep an eye on their tour dates.

    Fun reaction, guys! Loved it! Happy to see y'all back together again. Since it's now Christmas season, check out their "Children Go Where I Send Thee" they did with Kenny Rogers. Kenny invited them to do this for one of his Christmas albums a couple yrs before he died. It's a really fun, jazzy, toe-tapping version. RIP, Kenny.

    Live is body rattling especially when Tim hits those lows! It's awesome! Adam does the no-monica and Austin joins him!!! Chance does the jaw harp or juice harp, live he does use a looper because to do it for a long time hurts his throat! They are amazing! 😊

    The one who left the group was Chris Rupp in 2016. He co-founded Home Free with his brother Adam Rupp in 2000. He left the group for other projects such as going solo, 7th ave with their sister Tristin Rupp and Cypress Fyre. Home Free has had several members. Rob joined in 2008, Tim in 2010 and Austin in 2012. The combination Chris, Adam, Rob, Tim and Austin won "The Sing-Off" in 2013 . From then on, only Chris has been replaced by Adam Chance (hereinafter referred to as Chance)
    This is one of the first Home Free videos I saw. The first was "Ring of Fire" which I loved so much and thought I could become a Home Fry. With this one I knew for sure that I am a Home Fry from the Netherlands. They are so good. Can really sing anything.. The Jaw Harp you hear especially at the beginning and end is by Chance. Also great vocals, good harmonies, the deep bass and incredible inhuman Adam with his no-monica. And let's not forget Rob's Doopiediedoopiediedo (or something like this😅) That's so great !

    When both beatbox parts are going live they use a looper to continue the base beat while Adam Rupp does other sounds. They also use a looper for Chance's Jews Harp part.

  • @pennygarrity386
    @pennygarrity386 Před rokem +6

    They finally decided to use a loop machine on their live concerts (probably because even though he's taught the others to do some beatboxing Adam can't do all the sounds at the same time). Chris Rupp (Adam's brother) started the group with Adam when they were in college in 2000 and left the group to go solo in 2016. You should check out some of his music on his CZcams channel. Like Adam (who doesn't like to sing lead) he's got a beautiful voice and is a wonderful arranger. Check out him and Tim doing Long Black Train and Angels Among Us. If you want to do some Christmas music make sure you check out Adam's arrangement of Do You Hear What I Hear. It's absolutely PHENOMENAL

  • @arnieadam
    @arnieadam Před rokem +1

    Although Adam does use a looper now for multiple sounds that he has made, this is an older video and I don't think they used it back then. Helpful to know they ALL can beatbox (though not to the extreme level that Adam does) and Chase and Tim share parts back and forth when the other is used elsewhere, as do Austin and Rob spell each other.

  • @patriciamcl54
    @patriciamcl54 Před rokem +14

    You can see from recordings of live concerts that the use of the loop is explained and demonstrated, particularly with this song and Castle on the Hill, so people are quite aware of what is happening. You'll also see Austin doing a "no-monica" duet with Adam Rupp in this one.
    Like a lot of people,, this was the first I'd seen or heard of Home Free, and i found it such a profound experience that I devoured their entire back catalogue. Another thing that is remarkable about the band is that they can cater for such different tastes. There are of course die-hard Fries, who adore everything, there are those (like me) who don't care for anything too old-style country, there are fervent country fans, but an awful lot who just love good voices doing what they do best. You might find it interesting to listen to a couple of diversions from the HF path: first, Austin and Rob singing Nessun Dorma and killing it, and second, one of the most recent releases from the new album, Save the World. This is an original written by Austin (whose domestic happiness seems to have driven him to passionate outpourings in song) and one of his long-time collaborators, Andrew Tufano. For the first time, a piano is used to set the tone of the song and Adam Rupp plays the (real) synthesizer, so some a capella purists were not happy, but it is such a powerful account of redemption through love that it's hard to criticise too much.

    If you want to expand reaction to the Home Free "family" instead of just the 5, both Tim and Austin have their own "solo" channels where you'll find videos of them with others (not a cappella BTW). Tim is joined by Chris Chatham in a lot of them. Austin has Steven Martinez (guitar) or Sebastien Douyon (piano), and several others out on locations. Take the Night Off (with his lady Amberly), Earn It, and Off the Grid are my faves. Chance often performs with The Hound + The Fox, billed as Adam Chance featuring The Hound + the Fox, or vice versa. Tim and Austin did "My Maria" together with Sebbie, Chatham, and Tim's BiL Chris Marion on Austin's deck, and Jeffrey East joined Chatham, Tim, and Austin in Austin's shed/garage/whatever that space is for What's it to You. All wonderful!

    So glad you are sharing this awesome group with your brother. This is one of the most popular Home Free songs. It was the first song I ever heard from Home Free & I was instantly hooked. It really showcases the talent of these 5 men (their tight harmonies, Tim Foust's bass & Adam Rupp's incredible beatboxing). They are my favorite a cappella group. This song is very old & is done in the bluegrass country style. It was used in the movie "Oh Brother Where Art Thou" starring George Clooney.

    To provide context for my remarks, know that I have a YT playlist of over 300 reactions to this cover. 1. I was surprised, given your expertise, that the Home Free audio was muddy. Noticably muddy. 2. I have a simple pair of criteria to judge the reactors of this cover. The best reactors in my playlist notice immediately that Adam does not have a harmonica, as did you. And the best reactors also note, as soon as convenient, that the bass, Tim, drops an octave in the chorus following his solo. You might have noticed that, but you didn't say anything about it. Other than that, your reaction was pretty good.
