- Afternoon drive through the tropical Florida Keys island chain along the Overseas Highway, home to exotic alligators, pricy real estate, clear ocean and amazing ecotourism. The largest corral reef on the U.S. mainland. One of my favorite places in the world! I hope you enjoy!

The Florida Keys are a coral cay archipelago located off the southern coast of Florida, forming the southernmost part of the continental United States. The area is popular for fishing and tourism, including ecotourism, with many visitors scuba diving in the area's protected waters. The northern and central sections of the Florida Keys are the exposed portions of an ancient coral reef, the Key Largo Limestone. They begin at the southeastern coast of the Florida peninsula, about 15 miles (24 km) south of Miami, and extend in a gentle arc south-southwest and then westward to Key West, the westernmost of the inhabited islands, and on to the uninhabited Dry Tortugas. The islands lie along the Florida Straits, dividing the Atlantic Ocean to the east from the Gulf of Mexico to the northwest, and defining one edge of Florida Bay. At the nearest point, the southern part of Key West is just 90 miles (140 km) from Cuba. The Florida Keys are between about 24.3 and 25.5 degrees North latitude.
The Overseas Highway is a 113-mile (181.9 km) highway carrying U.S. Route 1 (US 1) through the Florida Keys to Key West. Large parts of it were built on the former right-of-way of the Overseas Railroad, the Key West Extension of the Florida East Coast Railway. Completed in 1912, the Overseas Railroad was heavily damaged and partially destroyed in the 1935 Labor Day hurricane. The Florida East Coast Railway was financially unable to rebuild the destroyed sections, so the roadbed and remaining bridges were sold to the state of Florida for $640,000.
Since the 1950s the Overseas Highway has been refurbished into a main coastal highway between the cities of Miami and Key West, offering travelers an exotic roadway through a tropical savanna environment and access to the largest area of coral reefs on the U.S. mainland. Many exotic animals such as the American Alligator, American Crocodile and Key Deer inhabit the tropical islands of the Florida Keys.

When I was a kid in the 60s in Germany I watched a TV show that was filmed there, with a family and a dolphin. I could never imagine to get there some day, it was as far away as the moon. Now I have taken that cruise three times, and I am so happy I was wrong those days.

Brings back so many memories, I used to live in Key West and Marathon FL. Thanks for taking me back to an unforgettable past, I enjoyed myself when I lived down there.

Tons of social things you find in europe. Like free hospital. Free pharmacy. 1500 euros welfare if you are unemployed. Free university. You wont find that in the usa. You better have cash in your wallet. And you still have to pay high taxes and fees in the usa

Go to spain (Barcelona/alicante/ibiza). Or south of France (Cannes/nices). If you like something similar to florida in term of looks and vibe. And you will have sweeter life due to all the socialism help for about the same tax you pay in usa!

Capitalistic country would be cayman islands. 0% salary tax 0% coorportate tax. No propreity tax.They only apply sales taxes on luxury imported products. And you have to pay everything from your wallet including high school for your children
Other capitalistic countries would be bahamas. Monaco. Luxumbourg. Emirates. Hong kong. Signapour

MANNNN!! I don't know who this J Utah dude is but this channel is amazing! The places I've been during this Pandemic have been amazing thanks to him! LOL!! My son and his wife just had a baby, i told them to play the road videos and put the baby in the swing at home and watch how fast the baby goes to sleep! lol and sure enough my grandson was sleep within minutes just from listening to the road noise and the swing moving........

I've been up the PCH from San Diego to San Francisco 3 times and from Miami to Key West 5 times. These are both bucket list types of drives, I couldn't pick 1 over the other. So many great memories from these trips that I'll always carry with me.

Every time I see the Florida Keys, I always think of that movie True Lies lol. Also, my cousins went there for Spring Break when thy were in college in the 80s and they loved it. I'd like to visit there myself someday.

The coastal road is a long stretch of highway passersby traffic, still a remarkable journey driving.
Most of the best views are off the main highway looking sideways! I will eventually do this in 360 degree video!

Driving to key west is very scenic and yes it's very humid there but you will enjoy beaches there. If your planning a day trip leave early from Miami and on week days

I oughta be ashamed of myself - born and raised in Florida (Orlando) and never been to the keys (Destin either). Been all over this country and abroad, but never to the keys.

I can help with the distancing, let's swap homes! I would love to drive to the Keys in less than 8 hours rather than the 14 hrs it takes to drive from my home to Key West.

yep this is exactly what I remembered when my parents and I travel down to the keys in 1972. We stopped at marathon and there was so many mosquitoes my parents wouldn’t let me out of the RV.

I would totally make the Keys my seasonal home for winter only. Make sure is 100% insured for floods. Maybe just buy a plot of land with water and power connection to the city and park there during winter time.
@@C-TOS Miami downtown will have less flooding and tornado because the skyscraper can screw the tornado away from that area.

This was the most beautiful road i have ever been to.
Went there like 4 weeks after Hurricane Irma hit. The only thing that comes close to this is the "old" Jadranska magistrala from Rijeka to Split ( Croatia ) . Driving 3 hours right next to the sea with zero traffic.
Oh i remember to drive to Keys island. Probably the longest drive ever lollll
