Because oscars are useless and meaningless recognition driven by insiders owing other insiders favors. The problem with oscars isn't who gets nominated and wins. The problem is that people even care about the farce.
Rockerman was a great movie. Many didn’t get it. I loved it. Particularly if you understand what EJ went through with his addictions. Im an alcoholic 14 yrs sober. Here is one of the most talented people ever, who almost lost everything to his addictions but overcame and put his life back together.
Wonder if he and his mother are still on the outs. I wonder if she really did try to blame him for ruining her crappy marriage to his father. That scene where his father says, "Don't you ever touch my records again" was like a sudden arctic blast with that contempt and hostility in his voice. I remember being spoken to that way on a regular basis by the so-called adults in my life when I was little; it's like being slapped, especially when you're trying to reach out to them.
They didn't use this at the end of the movie--it's an alternate version. It confused me because I couldn't tell if the video was all a recreation or original. I think they should have used this version instead.
@@growlusnotneeded3251 In the second part, the first half was Taron. I didn't know Sir Elton John himself CHOSE Taron for the part, that must've been such a huge moment for him
I love this mix of the movie and Elton himself. As someone who grew up in the 70s and loved Elton, this movie was such a joy. And Taron did a great job.
I admire Elton John. Unfortunately I never saw him live in concert. But he inspired me and touched my heart and soul. Wish him joy and hapiness with his family. ❤

I've watched Rocketman, it's a fantastic Bio Pic. And boy, what a bad guy his father was. I just couldn't grasp, how in the world a man can treat his own son like that?
OMG! I just watched the movie 🚀 Rocketman and it was excellent! I've been listening to Elton John since my teens. When I found this vid, I didn't know it was Taron in the beginning! 😳 He did a marvelous job! 👏 Happy the movie ended with this song. I've been singing it thru all of my good and particularly bad times. Glad Sir Elton found his much deserved true happiness! 🌈🤩👑🎹✌️

I actually liked how Elton John danced and moved in the original music video better than Taron Edgerton did. Elton was more natural in his motions, while Taron seemed to be mugging for the camera at times.
I watched this movie in treatment, I’m now sober for 17 months and 22 days from alcohol and crystal meth, this scene brings a lot of tears to my eyes, this movie is so powerful and helped save my life… Much love to everybody who is struggling with addiction, don’t ever stop… I know how it is to be an attic because I am one… But I now choose to stay sober, it’s not about me. 🫶🌍
Although I'm not gay, this has been one of my favorite Elton John songs for a very long time. Rocketman was an excellent movie. Didn't know Sir Elton had such a severe drug and alcohol addiction.

I was in my bedroom with friend listening to the album, Yellowbrick Road in the early 1920s. The phone rang. My Mom answered it. Came to the bottom of the stairway after about ten minutes. Said the call was for me. As I spoke with my best friend at that time, she told me her brother committed suicide by shooting himself in his mouth in his bedroom. Funeral For a Friend was playing during that time. He had cancer and couldn't deal with it. I've known him since Kindergarten since 1964. I will see him again when I go to Heaven. 💔🙏😇😢

I still don't know why Taron Edgerton didn't get an oscar nod for this.
I totally agree 👍
He did. He just didnt win tho

You're amazing for that my friend, and EJ was to. He had almost everything but happiness and selfcontrol, but he overcome it all. Amazing
I read that wrong at first. Read, "I'm an alcoholic 14 yr old. Sober." at first and then had to reread. Congrats though,
Excellent I like how they incorporate the original version of this song classic 80’s music.!!!

He did one hell of job playing Elton John
jappp
yup, brilliant preformance
Hand picked to play the part by Elton John himself after working with him in Kingsman 2. Did a great job

It’s the way the song is sung
Taron not having an Oscar for this role is a crime. A crime.
Everything Elton touches turns to gold! Genius ❤️
realizing Taron was playing Elton John, I now have a theory that Elton John was once an agent of the Kingsmen
Which explains why he was in Kingsmen: The Golden Circle
