Khichu Without Papad Khar - Healthy Gujarati Khichu Recipe | Jowar Flour Khichu Recipe

  • Khichu is a popular Gujarati dish and also a famous street food across Gujarat. Khichu is often prepared using rice flour but today we will make Khichu using jowar flour. Also, while preparation of this Gujarati Khichu recipe we will not use papad khar, which will make this recipe extremely healthy. Moreover, this Khichu recipe in Gujarati can be enjoyed in dinner and also in your breakfast. Tasty Jowar Khichu topped with some oil and athanu no masalo is simply tempting. While making this Khichu we have also added some spices which enhances the flavour of this amazing Khichu.
    Recipe:
    Ingredients:
    1 Cup Jowar Flour
    1 Cup Curd (Dahi)
    1.5 Cups of Water
    1-1.5 Teaspoon Green Chili-Ginger (Hari Mirch-Adrak) Paste
    2-3 Teaspoons of Ghee
    1 Teaspoon Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
    1-2 Teaspoon Sesame Seeds (Til)
    ½ Teaspoon Asafoetida (Hing)
    10-12 Curry Leaves (Kadi Patta)
    8-10 Garlic Cloves (Lehsun)
    ½ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
    Achaar Masala
    Coriander Leaves (Dhania)
    Oil
    Salt
    Procedure:
    1. In a bowl take jowar flour and add curd. Add water. Mix well.
    2. Add green chili-ginger paste, salt and ghee. Mix well. Make sure no lumps remain in the mixture.
    3. Now heat some oil and add cumin seeds, asafoetida, sesame seeds, curry leaves and garlic cloves. Stir well.
    4. Add turmeric powder and stir.
    5. Add the prepared mixture and stir continuously till it thickens.
    6. In a small pan heat some oil and add some coriander leaves. Sauté it well and add it to the Khichu. Mix it.
    7. Close lid and let the khichu cook for 5-7 minutes.
    8. Serve the Khichu and top it with achaar masala. Jowar Nu Khichu is ready.
